** Heads Up for the Southern Plains, western Texas and New Mexico** Widespread and long-lasting damaging severe thunderstorm winds possible this afternoon and evening from north-Texas and southwest Oklahoma, into Missouri. Expect wind gusts to hurricane force today over much of I-40 and I-10 in New Mexico, and I-10, I-20 in west Texas.


  • Another major winter storm will impact the West through mid-week with low snow elevations and copious amounts of snow in the mountains.
  • Strong winds over much of the central US on Monday.
  • Winter storm for parts of New York and western New England Monday.

Pacific:

Most of western WA, western and south-central OR: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories through this evening. Accumulations will vary from 2-4 inches in lower elevations and around the big cities to 6-18 inches and wind gusts to 35 mph in the mountains. I-5, I-84, I-90, US-101 impacted.

Northeast OR and adjacent southeast WA Blue Mountains: Winter Weather Advisory above 3500 feet through this evening. 3-6 inches snow and wind gusts to 40 mph. I-84 impacted.

Southwest coastal OR and northwest CA: High Wind Warnings and Advisories tonight. Gusts to 60 mph. US-101 impacted.

Southwest and south-central OR; much of northern CA above 2000 feet: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories from tonight through Tuesday morning. In general, expect 6-15 inches snow and wind gusts to 45 mph. Siskiyou and Grants Pass highly impacted. I-5, US-97, US-101, US-395 impacted.

— North-central CA Sacramento Valley: Wind Advisory Monday. Gusts to 45 mph. I-5, I-80, CA-99 impacted.

CA Sierra Nevada mountains: Winter Storm Warnings this morning trough late tonight, then BLIZZARD WARNINGS late tonight through early Wednesday. Total snow accumulation 3-7 feet. Wind gusts to 70 mph and up to 100 mph along ridge tops. I-80, US-50 impacted.

West-central NV Reno and Carson City area: Winter Storm Watch Monday afternoon through Tuesday night. 4-8 inches snow, except 8-16 inches above 5000 feet. Wind gusts to 50 mph. I-80 impacted.

— Southern CA Antelope Valley: Wind Advisory this afternoon and evening. Gusts to 45 mph. CA-14, CA-138 impacted.

Southern CA San Diego County Deserts: Wind Advisory continues through this evening. Gusts to 70 mph. Blowing Dust could suddenly reduce visibility to near-zero. I-8 impacted.

Mountain:

Northwest MT along and east of the Rocky Mountain Front: High Wind Watch this evening and tonight. Gusts to 60 mph. I-15 impacted.

South-central MT Livingston area and Beartooth Foothills: Wind Advisory continues though this morning. Gusts 45-60 mph. I-90 impacted.

— Portions of west-central ID, north of I-84: Winter Weather Advisory this morning through early tonight. 3-6 inches snow. Wind gusts to 40 mph.

Portions of south-central and southwest MT; eastern and southeast ID: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories this morning through tonight. 2-5 inches snow and wind gusts to 45 mph. I-15 impacted.

North-central UT: Winter Storm Warnings and Watches this morning through Wednesday. 1-3 feet of snow and wind gusts to 50 mph. I-15, I-80 impacted.

— South-central WY and adjacent north-central CO Sierra Madre and Snowy Mountain Ranges: Winter Storm Warnings Sunday through Tuesday. 12-30 inches snow and wind gusts to 60 mph. This region is just south of I-80.

Southeast WY and adjacent southwest NE Panhandle; CO Front Range from Colorado Springs north to the WY Border: High Wind Warnings and Watches this afternoon through Monday morning. Gusts 70-80 mph. Strongest winds in CO. I-25, I-70, I-80 impacted.

Portions of southern UT; northwest, central and east-central AZ; higher elevations of western and north-central NM; portions of southwest CO: Winter Storm Warnings (AZ) and Advisories today, mostly above 5000 feet. Snow accumulations generally 4-8 inches. Wind gusts to 45 mph. I-15, I-17, I-40 impacted.

Southeast AZ and adjacent southwest NM: Wind Advisories through this afternoon. Gusts to 50 mph. I-10 impacted.

Most of NM except northwest portion of state; south-central and southeast CO; far-west TX : High Wind Warnings today and tonight. Gusts 65-85 mph. Winds may gust to near hurricane force on I-10, I-40. Blowing Dust could suddenly reduce visibility to near-zero. I-10, I-25, I-40 impacted.

Central:

Western TX; OK Panhandle: High Wind Warnings midday today through tonight. Gusts 75-85 mph. Blowing Dust could suddenly reduce visibility to near-zero. I-10, I-20, I-27, I-40 impacted.

Central MN; northern and central WI; MN Arrowhead: Winter Storm Warnings, Watches and Advisories tonight and Monday. A mixture of freezing rain and snow. 1-3 inches snow and up to 1/4 inch ice expected. I-35, I-90, I-94 impacted.

— NE; KS: Strong winds Monday. Gusts to 50 mph. I-29, I-35, I-70, I076, I-80 impacted.

Much of northern TX; OK: Wind Advisories this afternoon and tonight. Gusts to 55 mph. I-20, I-30, I-35, I-40, I-44,I-45 impacted.

Northern TX, including the eastern Panhandle; OK except the southeast portion of the state; KS except western portion of the state: northwest AR; southwest MO: Significant damaging wind event becoming likely this afternoon and evening, especially over much of northern TX, OK and southeast KS. Expect widespread damaging winds greater than 75 mph. A few strong tornadoes possible as well, especially over western north TX into southwest OK. Damaging wind threat moves into MO tonight. I-35, I-40, I-44, I-70 potentially impacted.

— Most of AR; MO: Wind Advisories later tonight through midday Monday. Gusts 45-50 mph. I-35, I-40, I-44, I-70 impacted.

— Southern and central IL; western KY; western and central TN; central and northern MS and AL: Wind Advisories late tonight and Monday. Gusts 45-50 mph. I-20, I-22, I-24, I-55, I-57, I-59, I-64, I-65, I-70, I-72, I-74 impacted.

Central IL: Severe thunderstorms with damaging winds possible Monday. I-55, I-57, I-72, I-74 potentially impacted.

— Northeast TX; northern LA; southern and central AR: Dense Fog Advisories through midday today. I-20, I-30, I-35, I-40, I-45, I-49 impacted.

— Central TN; northern AL: Dense Fog Advisories this morning. I-24, I-40, I-65 impacted.

— Coastal LA, MS, AL; FL Panhandle: Dense Fog Advisories this morning. I-10, I-12, I-55, I-59, I-65 impacted.

Eastern:

Central and southern IN and adjacent southwest OH and adjacent north-central KY: Severe thunderstorms associated with damaging winds possible Monday. I-64, I-65, I-70, I-71, I-74 potentially impacted.

Central and southern IN; southwest OH; central and eastern KY; eastern TN: Wind Advisories Monday. Gusts 45-55 mph. I-40, I-64, I-65, I-69, I-70, I-71, I-72, I-74, I-75, I-81 impacted.

— MI Lower Peninsula; western PA; far-west MD; northern WV: Strong winds Monday midday and afternoon. Gusts 40-50 mph. I-68, I-69, I-70, I-75, I-76, I-79, I-80 I-94, I-96, PA Turnpike impacted.

— Western MD; northwest; central, western and southwest VA; portions of northwest NC: Freezing fog and dense fog advisories this morning. I-64, I-66, I-68, I-70, I-77, I-81 impacted.

Much of eastern and northern NY except Hudson Valley; southern VT; western MA; northwest CT: Winter Storm Watches Monday afternoon and Tuesday. 5-10 inches of snow. Wind gusts to 35 mph. I-84, I-87, I-88, I-90, I91, Mass Pike, NY Thruway impacted.

— DownEast ME: Winter Weather Advisory this afternoon and tonight. 3-7 inches snow. Highest amounts along the immediate coast.
