** Heads Up for Southern California today, Southwest tomorrow** Blizzard conditions expected in the Los Angeles and Ventura County mountains, including the Grapevine (I-5 north of Los Angeles). Flash flooding already occurring in Los Angeles County. Wind gusts to near hurricane force return to New Mexico and west Texas Sunday.


  • Another major winter storm will impact the West Coast Sunday into mid-week.
    • High winds again for eastern and southern New Mexico, western Texas on Sunday. Heads up for those traveling on I-10, I-20, I-25, I-40.
      • Significant weather weather outbreak probable over the southern and central Plains Sunday afternoon and evening.

        Pacific:

        WA and OR Cascades: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories tonight through Sunday night. 5-15 inches snow, mostly above 2000 feet. Wind gusts 35-45 mph. I-84, I-90 impacted.

        Southwest WA; northwest and west-central areas of coastal OR. Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories this evening through midday Sunday. 2-6 inches snow above 1500 feet and 1-2 inches snow above 500 feet, including I-5, Portland and Vancouver areas. I-5, I-84 impacted.

        Southwest OR; northwest and north-central CA: Winter Weather Advisories Sunday above 2000 feet Snow accumulations generally 3-6 inches and wind gusts to 35 mph. I-5, especially Siskiyou and Grants Passes, impacted.

        Southwest OR; northwest and north-central CA: Winter Storm Warnings and Watches Sunday night through Wednesday morning. Up to 10-30 inches of snow. Wind gusts to 45 mph. Snow levels falling to 1000-2000 feet by Monday. I-5, US-101 impacted.

        — CA northern and central Sierra Nevada: Winter Storm Warnings Sunday morning through early Wednesday. 1-2 feet of snow above 2000 feet and 3-6 feet of snow above 3000 feet. Wind gusts to 60 mph. I-80, US-50 impacted.

        Northwest, west-central and central NV: Winter Weather Advisories continue through this morning. An additional 2-5 inches of snow with gusts to 50 mph. I-80, US-50, US-95 impacted.

        Southern NV between US-50 and I-15: Winter Storm Warnings continue through late tonight. Up to an additional foot of snow in favored regions possible. Wind gusts to 50 mph. US-6, US-93, US-95 impacted.

        CA southern Sierra Nevada: BLIZZARD Warnings (above 8000 feet) and Winter Storm Warnings through this afternoon. An additional 8-20 inches of snow and wind gusts to 50 mph. US-395 impacted.

        CA southern Sierra Nevada: Winter Storm Watches above 2000 feet Sunday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon. 6-8 inches above 2000 feet and 2-5 feet of snow above 4000 feet. Wind gusts to 65 mph. US-395 impacted.

        Southern CA Mountains from Santa Barbara to San Diego Counties: BLIZZARD Warnings (Ventura, Los Angeles and San Bernardino County Mountains) and Winter Storm Warnings continue today and tonight (for San Diego Country). Total snow accumulations 6-12 inches below 4500 feet and 2-5 feet above 4500 feet. Wind gusts 60-80 mph and near zero visibility. I-5 (including the Grapevine), I-8, I-15 highly impacted. Expect these major highways to be closed or impassable.

        Much of the western half of southern CA: FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS, Watches and Advisories today. 2-7 inches of rain have already fallen and an additional 1-3 inches could fall. Flash Flooding is underway in portions of Los Angeles County. I-5, I-8, I-10, I-15, US-101, CA-1 likely impacted.

        — Southeast CA north of I-10 Mojave Desert; southern NV south of I-15: Wind Advisory today. Gusts 40-50 mph. I-15, I-40, US-395, CA-58 impacted.

        Southern CA San Diego County Deserts: Wind Advisory today. Gusts to 60 mph. I-8 impacted.

        Mountain:

        Northwest MT along the Rocky Mountain Front and central MT: Blizzard (Rocky Mountain Front) and Winter Storm Warnings continue today. Ground blizzard conditions with wind gusts 50-70 mph. I-15 impacted.

        South-central MT Livingston area and Beartooth Foothills: Wind Advisory though Sunday morning. Gusts 50-60 mph. I-90 impacted.

        Central WY: Winter Weather Advisory continues through this afternoon. Blowing snow with wind gusts to 45 mph. I-25, US-20, US-287 impacted.

        Southeast WY: High Wind Warnings through tonight. Wind gusts to 65 mph. I-25, I-80 impacted.

        Southeast WY: High Wind Watches Sunday evening through Monday morning. Gusts to 70 mph. I-25, I-80 impacted.

        South-central WY Sierra Madre and Snowy Mountain Ranges: Winter Storm Watches Sunday through Tuesday. 12-22 inches snow and wind gusts to 65 mph. This region is just south of I-80.

        Southwest and south-central UT; northwest, central and east-central AZ: Winter Storm Warnings (AZ) and Advisories this evening through Sunday, mostly above 5000 feet. Snow accumulations generally 4-10 inches. I-15, I-17, I-40 impacted.

        — Western AZ along the CA and NV borders: Wind Advisories today. Gusts 40-50 mph. I-8, I-10, I-40 impacted.

        South-central and southeast CO; most of eastern, central and southern NM; far-west TX: High Wind Warnings and Watches Sunday and Sunday night. Gusts 65-75 mph. I-10, I-25, I-40 impacted.

        Central:

        Western TX; OK Panhandle: High Wind Warnings and Watches Sunday midday through Sunday night. Gusts 65-70 mph. I-10, I-20, I-27, I-40 impacted.

        Central and northern TX, including the eastern Panhandle; most of OK; southern and central KS: Expected isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms Sunday afternoon and evening. Large hail and damaging winds are the main threats, although isolated tornadoes will also be possible. I-20, I-35, I-40, I-44, I-70 potentially impacted.

        — Much of ND, SD, NE, KS, northern OK; MO; southern IL: Strong winds Monday. Gusts 35-50 mph. I-24, I-29, I-35, I-44, I-55, I-57, I-64, I-70, I-80, I-90, I-94 impacted.

        — Coastal LA, MS, AL; FL Panhandle: Dense Fog Advisories this morning. I-10, I-12, I-55, I-59, I-65 impacted.

        Eastern:

        Southeast IN; central KY; southwest OH: Severe thunderstorms associated with damaging winds possible Monday. I-64, I-65, I-70, I-74, I-75 potentially impacted.

        — East-central WV and west-central VA: Winter Weather Advisory through this afternoon. Mixed precipitation. Up to an inch or so accumulation possible. I-64, I-81, US-219 impacted.

        — Lower Peninsula MI; IN; western OH; KY; central TN: Strong winds Monday. Gusts 35-50 mph. I-40, I-64, I-65, I-69, I-70, I-71, I-74, I-75, I-80, I-81, I-9000, I-94, I-96, OH Turnpike, IN Toll Road impacted.
