  • The US is book-ended by majors storms on the East (nor’easter) and West (Atmospheric River) coasts, with a quiet center.
  • High winds and flooding will be the major issues for California. Over a foot of snow for much of New York and interior New England.
  • Isolated severe thunderstorms today for much of the Florida Peninsula.

Pacific:

WA and OR Cascades: Winter Storm Warnings, Watches and Advisories above 2500 feet through late this evening. Snow. Accumulations 5-15 inches. Wind gusts to 35 mph. I-90 impacted.

— Northeast WA: Winter Weather Advisory through this evening. 5-10 inches snow.

— Portions of central and northeast OR: Wind Advisories through this evening. Gusts to 45 mph. I-84, US-20, US-97, US-395 impacted.

— Northeast NV: Flood Watch through this evening for a combination of heavy rain and melting snowpack. I-80, US-93 potentially impacted.

Portions of northern and coastal northwest CA: Wind Advisories through late this evening. Gusts to 50 mph. I-5, US-101 impacted.

Portions of northwest and west-central NV: High Wind Watch late Monday night through Tuesday evening. Gusts 50-60 mph. I-80, US-50, US-95 impacted.

Central and northern interior CA from Modesto to north of Redding: High Wind Watch this evening through Tuesday evening. Gusts to 60 mph. I-5, I-80, CA-99 impacted.

CA Sierra Nevada: Winter Storm Warnings continue through Wednesday evening. Heaviest snowfall and highest winds on Tuesday. Snow levels generally between 6000-7000 feet before falling late Tuesday. I-80, US-50 impacted.

— Most of central and northern CA; adjacent southwest OR; west-central and central NV: Flood Advisories and Watches through Wednesday. Expect renewed heavy rains Monday night into Tuesday. There remains high potential for widespread, significant flooding at lower elevations. Highways in central and northern CA and portions of NV potentially impacted, including I-5, I-80, US-101, US-395, CA-1, CA-99.

Coastal central CA: High Wind Warnings late this evening through early Wednesday morning. Gusts to 50 mph in the valleys and 55-70 mph along the immediate coastal and exposed terrain above 1000 feet. US-101, CA-1 impacted.

Southern CA San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara County interior mountains: High Wind Watch Tuesday and Tuesday evening. Gusts to 60 mph. US-101 impacted.

Mountain:

— North-central ID and adjacent west-central MT: Winter Weather Advisory tonight above 2000 feet. 4-7 inches snow. Wind gusts to 35 mph. US-12, US-93 impacted.

— South-central ID Sawtooth Mountains: Winter Storm Warning today through Tuesday night. 6-12 inches snow in the valleys and 1-2 feet in higher terrain. Wind gusts to 50 mph.

Northwest MT along the Rocky Mountain Front; portions of central and southwest MT: High Wind Warnings tonight through Tuesday afternoon. Gusts 60-70 mph. I-15, US-20 impacted.

South-central MT Livingston and Beartooth Foothills: Wind Advisory this evening through midday Tuesday. Gusts to 60 mph. I-90 impacted.

Eastern ID east of I-15; western WY and adjacent south-central MT: Winter Storm Watches Tuesday morning through Wednesday afternoon. 10-18 inches snow possible with wind gusts to 35 mph. Lesser amounts of snow in northern Yellowstone NP. US-26, US-89 impacted.

Portions of central and southeast WY: High Wind Watches Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon. Gusts to 60 mph. I-25, I-80 impacted.

Portions of north-central and southwest UT: Winter Storm Warnings Tuesday evening through Thursday morning. Snow accumulations 6-24 inches. I-15 I-80, I-84 impacted.

Central:

East-central WI: Winter Storm Warning continues through this morning. An additional inch of snow possible. I-43 impacted.

Eastern:

Portions of southwest MI: Winter Weather Advisory through early this afternoon. 1-3 inches snow. I-69, I-94, I-96, I-196, US-31 impacted.

Portions of eastern WV; far-west MD; south-central PA west of I-99: Winter Weather Advisories tonight through Tuesday afternoon. Snow accumulations 2-8 inches. Heaviest amounts along west-facing slopes. I-68, I-76 / PA Turnpike, US-219 impacted.

Almost all of NY except NYC, Long Island and Buffalo; northeast PA; northwest NJ; VT and NH except far-north portion of each state; CT, RI and MA except along immediate coast: Winter Storm Warnings and advisories (northern and southern edges) this evening through Wednesday morning. 8-16 inches snow will be common, along with wind gusts 35-45 mph. I-80, I-81, I-84, I-86, I-87, I-88, I-89, I-90, I-91, I-93, I-95, Mass Pike, NY Thruway impacted. NYC and Boston should see mostly rain.

MA Coastline from Cape Cod north: High Wind Warning Tuesday through Wednesday afternoon. Gusts to 60 mph. I-95, US-6, MA-3 impacted.

VA and MD Chesapeake Bay; Long Island and Long Island Sound; Coastal MA: Coastal Flood Warnings, Watches and Advisories through this afternoon for Chesapeake Bay, Tuesday morning for Long Island, and Wednesday morning for MA. 1-2 feet of tidal inundation possible. Heads up to any RVers camping along the immediate shoreline.

FL Peninsula, especially central portions: Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms today. Large hail and damaging winds are the primary threats. I-4, I-75, I-95 potentially impacted.
