These are the most significant weather impacts to RV travel over the next two to three days. I do not list every area of rain, showers, or breezy winds. It would be exhausting (for both of us!). Please check out the animations and graphics for a good depiction of the weather along your route.
Pacific:
— Portions of east-central WA and adjacent northern ID: Dense Fog Advisories early this morning. I-90 impacted.
— South-central and southeast WA; north-central and northeast OR: Dense Fog and Freezing Fog Advisories this morning, including the lower Columbia River basin. I-84 impacted.
— Northern CA coast between Eureka and Mendocino: Strong winds today and tonight. Gusts 30-40 mph.
— Northern CA I-5 corridor from Sacramento to Redding: Wind Advisory later this morning through Friday afternoon. Gusts to 45 mph. Strongest winds tonight. I-5, I-80 impacted.
— Central CA southern Salinas Valley, including Pinnacles NP: Freeze Watch Friday night into Saturday morning. Low temperatures in the upper 20’s.
— Southern CA western Mojave Desert: Strong winds this afternoon. Gusts mainly 30-35 mph. I-15, US-395, CA-58 impacted.
— Northeast NV: Winter Weather Advisories continue through tonight. Accumulations of 1-4 inches at lower elevations and 3-6 inches in the mountains. I-80, US-93 impacted.
Mountain:
— Much of western and southern MT; eastern and southern ID; most of WY; north-central and northeast UT; much of CO: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories in effect. Thanksgiving snowstorm moves through this region. Snow has already started to fall in ID, MT and northern WY, and will spread south and east into CO by this evening. Snow will stop from north to south, ending in MT Friday morning and lasting through Saturday morning in CO. Accumulations of 3-8 inches will be common, more at higher elevations. Wind gusts 30-40 mph. I-15, I-25, I-70, I-76, I-80, I-84,I-86, I-90 impacted.
— Eastern ID; southern WY west of I-25: Strong to high winds tonight. Wind gusts 40-50 with some gusts to 60 mph over southwest WY. I-15, I-80, US-26 impacted.
— North-central UT north of Salt Lake City: High Wind Watch this evening through Friday morning. Gusts to 60 mph. I-15 impacted.
— Eastern AZ; portions of western and central NM: Strong winds late Friday morning through Friday evening. Gusts 30-40 mph. I-10, I-19, I-25, I-40 impacted.
Central:
— Southwest SD; western and central NE: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories this afternoon through early Saturday morning. 4-8 inches of snow likely and wind gusts 30-40 mph. I-80, US-20, US-26 impacted.
— Western and central KS: Winter Storm Watches late Friday night through Saturday evening. 2-4 inches of snow likely with the possibility of up to 6 inches in some areas. I-35, I-70 impacted.
— Southeast AR; northeast LA; west-central MS: Dense Fog Advisories this morning. I-20, US-61, US-82 impacted.
— Central TN and adjacent northern GA: Freezing Fog Advisory through mid-morning. I-26, I-40, I-65 impacted.
Eastern:
— Lake Superior shoreline of MI: northern MI Lower Peninsula: Some lake effect snows today, tonight. and Friday. Heaviest snowfall on the eastern Upper Peninsula. I-75, US-2, US-31 impacted.
— Western NY: Some lake effect snows tonight and Friday. Generally minor impacts. I-81, I-86, I-90, NY Thruway impacted.
