  • Heavy snow and high winds for the southern California mountains and passes; high winds for much of New Mexico and Colorado on Wednesday.
  • Chance for large hail over northern Missouri Wednesday evening.

Pacific:

Northeast CA and the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada: Winter Weather Advisories continue through this morning. Total snow accumulations above 5000 feet around 4 inches. US-395 impacted.

CA Sierra Nevada Mountains: Winter Storm Warnings continue through this morning. Additional accumulations up to 4 inches. Wind gusts to 35 mph. I-80, US-50 impacted.

CA Sierra Nevada Mountains: Winter Storm Watches early Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening. 4-8 inches snow with an additional 1-2 feet across higher elevations. Wind gusts to 40 mph. Snow levels 3000-5000 feet. I-80, US-50 impacted.

— Central and east-central NV: Flood Watches through Wednesday afternoon. Flooding caused by a combination of rain and snowmelt. US-6, US-50, US-93 impacted.

Central, east-central and southern NV above 6000 feet: Winter Storm Warnings and Watches late tonight through Wednesday afternoon. 6-18 inches snow possible. Wind gusts to 45 mph. US-6, US-50, US-93, US-95 impacted.

Central CA Coast, including Salinas Valley and East Bay Area: Wind Advisories Tuesday and Tuesday evening. Gusts to 50 mph. US-101, CA-1 impacted.

Central and southern CA Coast from San Luis Obispo to Los Angeles: High Wind Watch Tuesday and Tuesday evening. Gusts to 60 mph. I-5, I-10, US-101, CA-1 impacted.

Southeast and southern CA; southern NV: High Wind Watches and Advisories Tuesday and Tuesday night. Wind gusts mostly 50-55 mph except gusts 60-80 mph in the mountain passes. Major highways impacted include I-5, I-8, I-10, I-15, I-40, US-395, CA-58.

Southern CA Coastal Mountains from Santa Barbara to San Diego Counties: Winter Storm Warnings, Watches and Advisories Tuesday morning through Wednesday afternoon. 2-10 inches snow above 4000 feet and 2-4 feet of snow above 6000 feet. Wind gusts 70-80 mph. The passes on I-5 (Grapevine), I-8, and I-15 all likely impacted.

Central and southern CA coastal regions: Slight risk of flash flooding from heavy rains on Tuesday. Up to 2.5 inches of rain possible. Major highways impacted include I-5, I-8, I-10, I-15, US-101, CA-1, all greater Los Angeles freeways.

Mountain:

Central and southwest MT; central and southeast ID; west-central WY: Winter Weather Advisories through Tuesday morning. Snow accumulations generally 2-5 inches in the valleys and up to a foot in the mountains. I-15, I-90, US-26, US-89 impacted.

Southeast WY: High Wind Watch late tonight through Tuesday afternoon. Gusts to 60 mph. I-25, I-80 impacted.

North-central and northeast, central and southwest UT: Winter Storm Warnings and Watches through Wednesday night. Total snow accumulations of 1-3 feet likely. I-15, I-70, I-80, I-84 impacted.

Western AZ: Wind Advisory Tuesday and Tuesday night. Gusts to 55 mph. Blowing dust and areas of suddenly decreased visibility will be a hazard on the main highways. I-8, I-10, I-40 impacted.

Portions of northern AZ above 6500 feet: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories through Wednesday afternoon. Snow accumulations generally 3-5 inches. I-17, I-40 impacted.

East-central UT; south-central WY; central and southwest CO; north-central NM: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories Monday afternoon through Wednesday night. Multiple rounds of snow will accumulate 1-3 feet in many areas. Wind gusts to 65 mph, especially on Wednesday. This region is just south of I-80 in WY and just north and west of I-25 in NM and CO. I-70 impacted.

— West-central and central AZ: Slight risk of flash floods Tuesday and Wednesday due to excessive rainfall. Rainfall amounts may total 1-2 inches. I-17, I-40 potentially impacted.

Most of CO and NM, north of I-10: High winds much of Wednesday. Widespread gusts 50-70 mph. I-25, I-40, I-70 impacted.

South-central NM Sacramento Mountains: Wind Advisory this evening through Tuesday morning. Gusts to 55 mph. This region is just east of White Sand NP, Alamagordo, and US-54. US-70, US-82 impacted.

Southeast NM and adjacent far-west TX Delaware and Guadalupe Mountains: High Wind Warning late Monday night through Tuesday evening. Gusts to 70 mph. US-180 impacted.

Central:

— Western ND; northeast SD: Dense Fog Advisories this morning. I-94 impacted.

Eastern ND; northwest and north-central MN: Winter Storm Watches Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning. 3-7 inches snow possible. I-29, I-94 impacted.

— South-central KS: Wind Advisory midday today through this evening. Gusts to 45 mph. I-35, I-70 impacted.

— Northeast KS; northern MO: Strong to severe thunderstorms capable of large hail are possible Wednesday evening. I-29, I-35, I-70 potentially impacted.

Eastern:

— No significant weather impacts to RV travel today or Tuesday.

— The large area of dark blue across the Southeast on the weather hazards map shows where tonight’s low temperatures will be in the upper 20’s and lower 30’s.
