Your RV Weather Road Trip Forecast for Wednesday August 6, 2025


  • Severe thunderstorms are expected for the Northern Plains for the next couple of days. Strong winds, large hail, and a few tornadoes are all possible.
  • Flood threat continues in the Southeast today as thunderstorms continue over already saturated areas. Flood Watches are in effect over portions of Georgia and North Carolina today as 1″-3″+ of rainfall is expected. Heavy rain chances could continue through the weekend as there is potential tropical storm development off the Southeast coast.
  • A heat wave is expected to last through the workweek across portions of the Southwest U.S. Heat indices could reach up to 118°F during the afternoons.

These are the most significant weather impacts to RV travel over the next two to three days. I do not list every area of rain, showers, or breezy winds. It would be exhausting (for both of us!).

Weather Impacts Pacific Time Zone:

— Southern CA; Colorado Valley/Lake Mead Region of NV: A combination of Extreme Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories are in effect through Friday. Temperatures of up to 102°F expected for inland valleys. The Colorado Desert can expect temperatures up to 106-118°F. I-5, I-8, I-10, I-11, I-15, I-40, US-95, CA-78, CA-94 impacted.

— East-central NV: A Red Flag (Fire Weather) Warning is in effect for tomorrow afternoon and evening. Wind gusts up to 35 mph, hot temperatures, and low humidity will make conditions favorable for starting and rapidly spreading fires. US-6, US-50, US-93 impacted.

— Northeast NV: A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for tomorrow morning through tomorrow evening. Wind gusts up to 35 mph and low relative humidities could make for favorable wildfires. I-80, US-93 impacted.

— Western WA; western OR; northwestern CA: Fog may develop tomorrow morning. Higher elevations of the Cascade Range, Olympic Mountains, and the Pacific Coast can see low visibilities under 1/4 mile at times. I-90, US-2, US-12, US-26, US-101, US-199 impacted.

Weather Impacts Mountain Time Zone:

– Southern and eastern UT; southern WY; western CO; portions of southeastern and central ID: Red Flag (Fire Weather) Warning in effect for today and tomorrow. Wind gusts up to 35 mph and dry relative humidities are expected. I-15, I-25, I-70, I-80, I-86, US-6, US-18, US-20, US-26, US-30, US-40, US-50, US-85, US-89, US-91, US-93, US-160, US-189, US-191, US-287, US-550 impacted.

– Lower Elevations of the Grand Canyon: Extreme Heat Warning in effect through Friday evening for elevations below 4000 feet. Daytime temperatures 105-115°F expected. 

– Southern AZ: Extreme Heat Warning in effect through Friday evening. Daytime temperatures in the low 100s with heat indices of 108-118°F expected. I-8, I-10, I-19, I-40, US-60, US-70, US-93, US-95, US-191 impacted.

— Portions of central and southern NM; portions of west TX: Heat Advisories are in effect this afternoon. Temperatures up to 105°F are expected. I-10, I-25, I-40, US-62, US-67, US-70, US-90, US-285, US-550 impacted.

— Portions of eastern and central CO: Heat Advisories are in effect tomorrow afternoon. Temperatures up to 100-107°F are expected. I-25, I-70, I-76, US-24, US-34, US-50, US-85, US-87, US-287, US-350, US-385 impacted.

— Far eastern WY; western SD; northwestern NE: Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible today. Gusty winds and large hail are the primary threats. I-90, US-14, US-16, US-18, US-20, US-85, US-212, US-385 impacted.

— Eastern and central MT; western ND; western SD; northwestern NE: Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected tomorrow. Scattered strong winds, large to very large hail, and stray tornadoes are the primary threats. I-15, I-90, I-94, US-2, US-12, US-18, US-20, US-85, US-87, US-89, US-191, US-212, US-287 impacted.

Weather Impacts Central Time Zone:

— Eastern SD; northern and eastern NE; extreme northeast KS; southwestern MN; much of IA; northern MO: Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible today. Gusty winds and large hail are the primary threats. I-29, I-35, I-80, I-90, US-14, US-20, US-30, US-34, US-36, US-61, US-63, US-71, US-81, US-83, US-151, US-212, US-218, IA-60, MN-60 impacted.

— Eastern ND; eastern SD; eastern and southern MN; extreme northern IA; western WI: Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected tomorrow. Scattered strong winds and large hail are the primary threats. I-29, I-35, I-90, I-94, US-2, US-10, US-12, US-14, US-52, US-59, US-61, US-71, US-83, US-169, US-281, MN-60 impacted.

— Northeastern MN; northwestern WI: Fog may develop tomorrow morning. Visibilities under 1/4 mile may make for difficult travel. I-35, US-2, US-53, MN-61 impacted.

Weather Impacts Eastern Time Zone:

— Eastern, central, and northern GA; extreme southeast AL: A Flood Watch is in effect through tonight. Heavy rain from thunderstorms may cause flood/flash flooding events today. Additional rainfall of 1″-2.5″ is expected with localized totals of up to 3″ are possible over already saturated areas. I-16, I-20, I-75, I-85, US-1, US-19, US-27, US-29, US-76, US-78, US-80, US-82, US-84, US-278, US-431, US-441 impacted.

— Central NC: A Flood Watch is in effect through this evening. Heavy rain from thunderstorms may cause flood/flash flooding events today. 1″-3″+ of rainfall is expected today. I-40, I-73, I-85, I-95, US-1, US-29, US-52, US-64, US-70, US-74, US-158, US-264, US-301, US-401, US-421, US-501 impacted

— Southeast GA; eastern SC; eastern and central NC: Heavy rain from thunderstorms may cause scattered flood/flash flood events today. Widespread totals of 1″-3″+ are expected. I-16, I-20, I-26, I-40, I-73, I-85, I-95, US-1, US-17, US-52, US-64, US-70, US-74, US-82, US-264, US-301 impacted.

— Southern FL: A Heat Advisory is in effect this afternoon and evening. Heat indices of up to 110°F are expected. I-75, I-95, US-1, US-27, US-41, US-98 impacted.

— Eastern KY; northeastern TN; southern and central WV; southern OH; southeastern and central IN: Dense fog may develop tomorrow morning. Low visibilities under 1/4 mile may make for difficult travel at times. I-40, I-64, I-65, I-69, I-70, I-71, I-74, I-77, I-79, US-23, US-24, US-27, US-31, US-35, US-50, US-52, US-60, US-68, US-119, US-127, US-231 impacted.

— Much of VT; much of NH; western ME: Fog may develop tomorrow morning. Low visibilities under 1/4 mile at ties may make for difficult travel. I-89, I-91, I-93, US-2, US-3, US-4, US-7, US-302, ME-26, NH-16, NH-26, VT-15, VT-103 impacted.

— Coastal GA, SC, NC: A tropical wave over the far eastern tropical Atlantic is currently producing disorganized shower and thunderstorm activity. A tropical depression or tropical storm could form by this weekend as the system drifts westward approaching the Southeastern U.S., then expected to shift northward and northeastward off the coast. This will have to be monitored closely for impacts this weekend as there is a medium chance of development.
