  • Severe storms & brief tornado risk: New England to the Carolinas and northeast Georgia face scattered thunderstorms today with damaging winds and a brief tornado possible.
  • Heavy rain: New England, eastern New York, northern New Jersey, and northeast Pennsylvania may see 1–2 inches of rain today and tonight with localized flash flooding.
  • Red Flag Warnings: Central and eastern Washington and north-central Oregon risk rapid fire spread with gusty winds up to 40 mph today and early tonight.

Weather Impacts Pacific Time Zone:

— Much of central and eastern WA; north-central OR: Red Flag (fire danger) Warnings today and early tonight. Wind gusts 35-40 mph. I-82, I-84, I-90, US-2, US-12, US-26, US-97, US-395 impacted.

Central WA Kittitas Valley: Wind Advisory late this morning through tonight. Wind gusts 40-55 mph. I-82, I-90, US-97 impacted.

— East-central OR I-84 corridor: Strong winds tonight. Wind gusts to 40 mph. I-84 impacted.

— Central CA Salinas Valley: Strong winds this afternoon and early evening. Wind gusts to 35 mph. US-101 impacted.

— Southern CA Santa Barbara Coast: Wind Advisory this afternoon through tonight. Wind gusts to 45 mph. US-101, CA-1, CA-154 impacted.

Southern CA Tejon Pass (‘Grapevine) and Mojave Desert Slopes; western Mojave Desert: Strong winds develop this afternoon and continue tonight. Wind gusts 35-50 mph. I-5, I-15, I-40, CA-14, CA-58 impacted.

— Southern CA San Gorgonio Pass (I-10 near Palm Springs); San Diego County and Imperial County Deserts: Strong Winds today through Friday morning. Wind gusts to 45 mph, except near 60 mph in Imperial County late tonight. I-8, I-10, CA-62, CA-78 impacted.

Southwest NV: Strong to marginally severe thunderstorms are possible today. Damaging wind gusts and blowing dust are the primary hazards. I-15 potentially impacted.

Weather Impacts Mountain Time Zone:

— Northwest MT Rocky Mountain Front including Glacier National Park: Strong winds develop this afternoon and continue into Friday morning. Wind gusts to 45 mph. US-2, US-89 impacted.

— Portions of south-central MT; northwest WY: Strong winds tonight. Wind gusts to 45 mph. I-90 (near Livingston), US-14, US-16, US-212 impacted.

— Portions of central and eastern MT: Strong winds on Friday. Wind gusts to 40 mph. I-94, US-2, US-12, US-87 impacted.

— Southeast AZ: Flood Watch midday today through Saturday. Moisture from the Gulf of California may bring periods of heavy rainfall from thunderstorms and heavy rain showers. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches with up to 3 inches in the mountains possible. I-10, I-19, US-70, US-191 impacted.

Northwest, central and southeast AZ: Strong to marginally severe thunderstorms are possible today. Damaging wind gusts, hail, and blowing dust are the primary hazards. I-8, I-10, I-17, I-19, I-40, US-60, US-70, US-93 potentially impacted.

— South-central and southeast AZ; adjacent southwest NM: A few strong to marginally severe thunderstorms are possible Friday afternoon. Wind gusts and hail are the primary hazards. I-8, I-10, I-17, I-19, US-60, US-70, US-191 potentially impacted.

— South-central AZ: Strong winds Friday. Wind gusts to 40. Blowing dust may become a hazard. AZ-86 impacted.

Weather Impacts Central Time Zone:

— Western ND and SD: Strong winds Friday afternoon. Wind gusts to 40 mph. I-90, I-94, US-2, US-12, US-85, US-212 impacted.

— Much of northern WI: Dense Fog Advisories this morning. US-2, US-8, US-45, US-51, US-63 impacted.

— Southwest MO; southeast KS; northeast OK: Dense Fog Advisories this morning. I-44, I-49, US-54, US-59, US-60, US-65, US-69, US-160, US-400 impacted.

Weather Impacts Eastern Time Zone:

Along the KY/OH/WV border, northwest of Huntington WV and north of I-64: FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS and Flood Advisories this morning. 2-4 inches of rain have fallen and up to an additional inch of rain is possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. US-23, US-52 impacted.

New England; Southern-tier and eastern NY ; northern NJ; northeast PA: Heavy rain showers and thunderstorms today and tonight will produce 1-2 additional inches of rain across much of this region. Localized flash flooding is possible. I-78, I-80, I-81, I-84, I-86, I-87, I-88, I-89, I-90, I-91, I-93, I-95, NY Thruway, Mass and NJ Turnpikes, Garden State Parkway impacted.

MA; RI; CT; southern NY including Long Island; eastern PA; NJ; most of MD; DE; DC; most of VA along and east of I-81; central and western NC; upstate SC; northeast GA: Scattered thunderstorms expected today. Isolated damaging wind gusts and a brief tornado will be possible in the strongest storms. Most highways along and east of I-81, between I-90 and I-16 are potentially impacted.
