These are the most significant weather impacts to RV travel over the next two to three days. I do not list every area of rain, showers, or breezy winds. It would be exhausting (for both of us!). Please check out the animations and graphics or WILMA for a good depiction of the weather along your route.
Weather Impacts Pacific Time Zone:
— Northeast WA: Freeze Warning for late tonight and Friday morning. Low temperatures around 30 deg F.
Weather Impacts Mountain Time Zone:
— Much of MT east of the Rocky Mountains: Strong winds today. Wind gusts generally 30-35 mph except gusts 40-50 mph along the Rocky Mountain Front and also near Livingston MT on I-90 and the Beartooth Foothills. Winds will be strongest this morning. I-15, I-90, I-94, US-2, US-12, US-87, US-89 impacted.
— Portions of south-central and southeast ID; portions of western and central WY: Strong winds this afternoon and evening. Wind gusts to 35 mph. I-80, I-84, I-86, US-14, US-16, US-26, US-93 impacted.
— Eastern CO; northeast NM: Severe thunderstorms possible this afternoon and evening. Severe wind gusts and large hail are the primary hazards. I-25, I-40, I-70, I-76 potentially impacted.
— Eastern CO; northeast NM: Severe thunderstorms possible again Friday afternoon and evening. Wind gusts and hail are the primary hazards. I-25, I-40, I-70, I-76 potentially impacted.
— Eastern CO; eastern NM; far-west TX: Scattered strong thunderstorms may develop Saturday afternoon. Potential hazards include severe wind, hail and a couple of tornadoes. I-10, I-20, I-25, I-40, I-70, I-76 potentially impacted.
Weather Impacts Central Time Zone:
— Eastern ND; eastern SD; northwest MN: Strong winds this morning through mid-afternoon. Gusts 30-35 mph. I-29, I-90, I-94 impacted.
— Western ND; northwest SD: Strong winds this afternoon. Gusts 30-35 mph. I-94, US-2, US-12, US-85 impacted.
— Northeast KS; southwest and south-central OK; central and northern TX: Heavy rain showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight create a slight risk of flash flooding. 1-3 inches of rainfall will be common. I-10, I-20, I-30, I-35, I-40, I-44, I-45, I-70 potentially impacted.
— Southern MO; AR; much of eastern TX and western and northern LA: Heavy rain showers and thunderstorms Friday and Friday night create a slight risk of flash flooding. 1-3 inches of rainfall will be common. I-10, I-20, I-30, I-44, I-45, I-49 potentially impacted.
— Southwest KS; western and central OK; north-central TX and the TX Panhandle: Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening. Some severe wind gusts and large hail is possible. Greatest severe weather threat is across parts of west TX including the Panhandle, where hailstones greater than 2 inches in diameter may occur. I-10, I-20, I-27, I-35, I-40 potentially impacted.
— Central and eastern TX; south-central and southeast OK; southwest AR; western LA: Severe thunderstorm development possible Friday morning, continuing into the evening. Storms will pose a risk for severe wind and hail. I-10, I-20, I-30, I-35, I-45, I-49 potentially impacted.
— Western NE; western KS: Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms spread across the region Saturday late afternoon and evening. Hazards include severe wind gusts, hail, and perhaps a couple of brief tornadoes. I-70, I-80 potentially impacted.
Weather Impacts Eastern Time Zone:
— CT; RI; central and eastern MA: Showers and thunderstorms this morning and early afternoon. Some rainfall may be locally heavy. I-84, I-90, I-91, I-95, Mass Pike impacted.
— Southwest and southern FL: Heavy showers and isolated strong thunderstorms this afternoon and evening will impact driving conditions and may create localized flash flooding. Up to an inch of rain possible in heavier storms. I-75, I-95 impacted.
