These are the most significant weather impacts to RV travel over the next two to three days. I do not list every area of rain, showers, or breezy winds. Please check out the animations and graphics for a good depiction of the weather along your route.
Pacific:
— No significant impacts to RV travel today or Thursday.
Mountain:
— Portions of southeast ID: Flood Advisories due to rain and snowmelt. I-15 potentially impacted.
— North-central UT: Flood Watches due to snow melt. US-6, US-40 potentially impacted.
— Eastern CO; northeast and east-central NM: A few severe thunderstorms with isolated hail and strong wind gusts are possible late this afternoon and evening. I-40, I-70, I-76 potentially impacted.
— Southeast CO and adjacent northeast NM: Slight risk of flash floods Thursday and Thursday night. Rainfall amounts of up to an inch in briefly heavy storms possible.
Central:
— Central and western SD; central and western NE; western KS; OK and TX Panhandles: A few severe thunderstorms with isolated hail and strong wind gusts are possible late this afternoon and evening. I-27, I-40, I-70, I-80, I-90 potentially impacted.
— Central and east-central MS; central and southern AL: Thunderstorms with marginally severe winds and hail will be possible this afternoon. I-20, I-22, I-55, I-59, I-65, I-85 potentially impacted.
— Much of northeast, central and western OK; portions of western TX: A few severe thunderstorms may occur Thursday. Wind and hail are the primary threats, but a tornado or two could occur over OK. I-10, I-20, I-35, I-40, I-44 potentially impacted.
— South-central and southwest KS; central and western OK; northern TX Panhandle: Slight risk of flash floods Thursday and Thursday night. Rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches possible, especially over northern OK. I-35, I-40, I-44, I-70 potentially impacted.
— AR; southeast OK; northeast, central and south-central TX: Strong and locally severe thunderstorms are expected Friday. Hail and locally damaging winds appear to be the primary threats. I-10, I-20, I-30, I-35, I-40, I-45 potentially impacted.
— Portion of northwest MS: Flash Flood Watch through mid-June for potential failure of Arkabutla Dam on the Coldwater River. I-55 potentially impacted.
Eastern:
— Central and eastern KY: Dense Fog Advisories this morning. I-64, I-75 impacted.
— Central and southern GA; southern SC: Thunderstorms with marginally severe winds and hail will be possible this afternoon. I-16, I-20, I-26, I-65, I-75, I-85, I-95 potentially impacted.
— Southern NJ: Red Flag (fire danger) warning through this evening. Gusts to 25 mph.
— MA (excluding Cape Cod); CT; RI: Red Flag (fire danger) warning through this evening. Gusts to 35 mph. I-84, I-90, I-91, I-95, Mass Pike impacted.
— Central and northern PA; northwest NJ; most of NY and New England: Freeze Watch for late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. Morning temperatures as low as the mid-20’s.
