Three things to know about weather for travelers Friday 24 November

Heavy snow continues through Saturday for portions of the Rockies and Plains.
This system will move across the Eastern States early next week. Travel conditions in the East should be generally good through Sunday evening.
Much below normal temperatures expected through most of the West and Plains this weekend.

These are the most significant weather impacts to RV travel over the next two to three days. I do not list every area of rain, showers, or breezy winds. It would be exhausting (for both of us!). Please check out the animations and graphics for a good depiction of the weather along your route.

Pacific:

— Portions of southeast WA and northeast OR Blue Mountains: Freezing Fog Advisory this morning. I-84 impacted.

— Portions of northern and central CA coast; interior central CA valleys; southeast CA; southern NV: Freeze Watches and Warnings into this weekend. Some valleys in central CA may see nighttime low temperatures at or below freezing for much of the coming week.

— Northern CA I-5 corridor from Sacramento to Redding: Wind Advisory through early this afternoon. Gusts to 45 mph. I-5, I-80 impacted.

— Northeast NV: Winter Weather Advisory continues through this morning. Additional accumulation of 1-3 inches possible. I-80 impacted.

Mountain:

— Northeast MT: Strong winds move in Saturday night. Gusts 35-45 mph. US-2 impacted.

— Portions of western and southern MT; southern ID; most of WY; eastern CO: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories continue through late morning or early afternoon today. Generally 1-4 inches of additional snow accumulation. I-15, I-25, I-70, I-76, I-80, I-90 impacted.

— Much of eastern, central and southwest UT; western and central CO; north-central and northwest NM: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories through Saturday. Accumulations will range from 2-5 inches in the drier valley, to 8-12 inches at higher elevations, to 10-20 inches in the San Juan mountains. I-15, I-70, I-80 impacted.

— Northeast and east-central AZ: Wind Advisory mid-morning through this evening. Gusts to 45 mph. I-40 impacted.

— Portions of central and western NM along and west of the I-25 corridor: Strong winds late this morning though this evening. Gusts 30-40 mph. I-25, I-40 impacted.

Central:

— Much of ND and SD: Strong winds move across the region late Saturday night. Gusts 35-45 mph. I-29, I-90, I-94 impacted.

— Southwest SD: Winter Weather Advisory continues through midday today. An additional 1-2 inches of snow is possible. US-16, US-18 impacted.

— Western and central NE; much of KS: Winter storm Warnings, Watches, and Advisories today and Saturday. 2-6 inches of snow generally expected. Cold with windchill values in the single digits. I-35, I-70, I-80, US-2 impacted.

— Western OK and northern TX Panhandle: Snow, sleet and freezing rain possible tonight through Saturday night. Modest accumulations but slippery roads likely. US-64, US-87 impacted.

Eastern:

— Lake Superior shoreline of MI.mostly on the western portion of the Upper Peninsula: Some lake effect snows through Saturday evening. Most significant lake effect snows Monday. US-41 impacted.
