  • High Wind Warnings and Advisories today and tonight: Strong winds with gusts of 50–80 mph may create hazardous travel across the northern Rockies from northwest Montana through Wyoming into north-central Colorado.
  • Blizzard Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories this morning through Thursday morning: Snow of 2–4 inches with localized 8-inch totals and gusts to 45 mph may significantly reduce visibility across the central and southern Appalachians from western Maryland through West Virginia into southwest Virginia and western North Carolina.

Weather Impacts Pacific Time Zone:

WA northern Cascades: Snow Thursday. Snow levels 8500 feet Thursday morning, then lowering rapidly to 4000 feet by midday Thursday. 1-3 inches on Stevens Pass. US-2 impacted.

Much of western WA: Flood Watches with embedded Flood Advisories and FLOOD WARNINGS continue through Friday. An atmospheric river will continue to impact the area and bring periods moderate to heavy rain to the region. Sharp rises are expected on area rivers, especially those flowing off the Olympics and Cascades. Saturated soils will bring increased potential for landslides and debris flows on burn scars. Expect a total of 4-12 inches of rainfall by Friday. I-5, I-90, US-2, US-12, US-101 impacted.

— Much of western WA; northwest and west-central OR: Wind Advisories through late this evening. Wind gusts to 30 mph for interior lowland valleys and gusts to 45 mph for coastal and higher terrain. I-5, I-84, US-101 impacted.

— Central WA: Flood Watch in effect through Friday morning. Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues to be possible. An atmospheric river will bring an extended period of moderate to heavy rainfall through early Friday. Rain and snowmelt will bring an increased risk for urban and small stream flooding and mud and rock slides on burn scars. I-82, I-90, US-2, US-12, US-97 impacted.

Southeast and south-central WA; adjacent northwest ID; north-central OR: High Wind Warnings (southeast WA) and Advisories today and tonight. Wind gusts 55-60 mph. I-82, I-84, I-90, US-2, US-12, US-97, US-195, US-395 impacted.

— Central CA eastern and western edges of San Joaquin Valley: Dense Fog Advisories through late this morning. Fog mostly west of I-5 and east of CA-99. I-5 (south of Bakersfield), CA-33, CA-41, CA-49, CA-58, CA-140, CA-168, CA-180 impacted.

Weather Impacts Mountain Time Zone:

Central and northern ID and a portion of adjacent northwest MT: Flood Watch continues through Friday. Near-record precipitation is possible this week the second Atmospheric Rivers moves through Thursday. Snow levels rise to 6,000 to 9,000 feet today and Thursday. Between 4 and 10 inches of total precipitation will fall this week in the mountains and upslope regions and between 1 and 4 inches of total rainfall is expected in the valleys. I-90, US-12, US–95 impacted.

Northwest MT Rocky Mountain Front: High Wind Warning through this evening. Wind gusts to 70 mph. I-15, US-2, US-89 impacted.

A portion of northwest MT: High Wind Warnings and Advisories through this evening. Wind gusts 50-65 mph. I-15, I-90, US-12, US-93 impacted.

A portion of northwest MT: Winter Weather Advisory continues through midday today. Total snow accumulation 2-5 inches. Up to 3 inches of snow on Lookout Pass early this morning, then rain. I-15, I-90, US-2 impacted.

Much of northern, central and eastern MT: Winter Weather Advisories today. A mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain. Up to an additional inch of snow along with a light glaze of ice is possible. I-15, I-90, I-94, US-2, US-12, US-87, US-89, US-191, US-212 impacted.

Much of northern MT along and east of the Rocky Mountain Front: Winter Storm Watches Thursday afternoon through late Friday night. 5-12 inches of snow possible with wind gusts to 35 mph. I-15, US-2, US-87, US-89, US-191 impacted.

A portion of central and south-central MT, including the Beartooth Foothills and Livingston Area: High Wind Warnings and Advisories High Wind Warnings and Advisories this afternoon through Thursday. Wind gusts 60-70 mph. I-90, US-12, US-87, US-89, US-191 highly impacted.

A portion of south-central MT; much of the higher terrain of western WY: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories continue through this afternoon. Heavy snow. Additional accumulations up to 6 inches. Wind gusts to 65 mph. Significant blowing and drifting of snow is expected. Snow levels 7500-8500 feet. US-14, US-16, US-26 (Togwotee Pass), US-89, US-191, WY-22 (Teton Pass) impacted.

North-central WY Big Horn Range: Winter Weather Advisories continue today. Snow expected. Snow. Additional snow accumulations up to 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.  US-14, US-16 impacted.

Weather Impacts Central Time Zone:

Western and central ND; northern and central SD: Winter Weather Advisories this evening through midday Thursday. Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations up to one inch and ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch. I-29, I-94, US-2, US-12, US-83, US-85 impacted.

Northeast IA; southern and east-central WI; northwest IL: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories continue this morning. An inch or so of additional snow accumulation. Wind gusts to 35 mph. I-39, I-41, I-43, I-90, US-18, US-20, US-61, US-151 impacted.

Eastern NE; much of IA; northern and east-central MO; much of western and central IL: High Wind Warnings and Advisories this morning. Wind gusts 45-60 mph. I-29, I-35, I-44, I-55, I-57, I-64, I-70, I-72, I-74, I-80, US-20, US-30, US-61, US-65 impacted.

— Much of south-central and east-central AL: Freezing Fog Advisory this morning. I-65, I-85 impacted.

Weather Impacts Eastern Time Zone:

Much of the northern and central MI Lower Peninsula: Winter Weather Advisories continue through this afternoon. Additional snow accumulations of 1-4 inches likely. I-69, I-75, I-94, US-10, US-23, US-31, US-127, US-131 impacted.

Northeast OH; northern and east-central PA; parts of western and central NY: Winter Storm Warnings (northwest PA) and Advisories through Thursday night. Snow will transition to plain rain and drizzle this morning, then back to snow this evening with colder air. Localized lake effect snow tonight through Thursday night. Total snow accumulations over two days of 7 to 14 inches, snow accumulation coming in a number of different batches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will produce blowing and drifting snow, mainly later tonight through Thursday. I-78, I-79, I-80, I-81, I-85, I-86, I-88, I-90, I-476, US-6, US-15, US-219, US-322 impacted.

Parts of western and central NY downwind of Lake Ontario: Winter Storm Watches late tonight through Friday morning for heavy lake effect snow. A band of significant lake effect snow is possible Thursday into Thursday night, with more blowing and drifting snow possible as westerly winds gust up to 40 mph. I-81, I-90, NY Thruway impacted.

Northern NY east of Lake Ontario: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories through Thursday morning. 7-12 inches of snow expected. I-81, I-90, US-11, NY Thruway impacted.

Southwest NY; northwest and north-central PA: Winter Weather Advisories tonight through Wednesday evening. Snow. 3-6 inches expected. Wind gusts to 35 mph. I-79, I-80, I-86, I-90, US-6, US-15, US-219, NY Thruway impacted.

Much of VT; central and northern NH; western ME: Winter Storm Warnings (southern VT) and Advisories today and tonight. Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 6 inches. Some light freezing rain may mix in. I-89, I-91, I-93, I-95, US-2, US-3, US-4, US-5, US-7, US-201 impacted.

Central and south-central PA; far-western MD; northeast, central and southeast WV; southwest VA; northwest NC: BLIZZARD WARNINGS (MD and WV) and Winter Weather Advisories from the Allegheny Front in PA south to Asheville this morning through Thursday morning. Generally 2-4 inches of snow and wind gusts to 45 mph. Parts of WV and MD could see up to 8 inches of snow. I-26, I-40, I-64, I-68, I-70, I-76, I-77, I-80, I-81, PA Turnpike impacted.

— Eastern TN; western NC; southwest VA: Wind Advisory today. Wind gusts to 45 mph. I-26, I-40, I-75, I-81 impacted.

— Coastal SC: Freezing Fog Advisory this morning. I-26, US-17 impacted.

— Much of central GA: Dense Fog Advisory this morning. I-16, I-20, I-75, I-85 impacted.
