Weather Impacts Pacific Time Zone:
— Southern Oregon into far northern California. Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are possible today with strong wind gusts. US-101, US-199 may be affected.
— Northern Sierra Nevada and adjacent northern California high country, including Donner Pass. Winter Storm Watch beginning Friday evening and continuing into Monday morning with heavy snow, 1 to 2 feet common above 4500 feet, locally 3 to 4 feet on the highest peaks, and gusts up to 45 mph. Very difficult to impossible mountain travel, slick roads, and periods of low visibility are likely. I-80, US-395, CA-139 likely impacted.
— Sierra Nevada from Yosemite south toward the Lake Isabella area. Winter Storm Watch beginning Friday evening and continuing into Monday morning with heavy snow and gusts up to 50 mph. Slick roads, blowing snow, and possible whiteout conditions will make high-elevation travel hazardous. US-6, US-395, CA-120 impacted.
— Greater Lake Tahoe and the eastern Sierra. Winter Storm Watch beginning Saturday afternoon and continuing into Monday morning with 6 to 10 inches around Lake Tahoe, 12 to 28 inches above 7000 feet and on Sierra passes, and Sierra crest gusts as high as 90 mph. Travel could become very difficult to impossible with snow-covered passes and dangerous wind exposure. Donner Pass on I-80, US-50, US-395 and nearby Sierra passes impacted.
— Southern California Mojave Desert Slopes: Wind Advisory continues into tonight with winds 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 50 mph. Difficult crosswinds are likely for high-profile vehicles on US-395, CA-14, CA-58.
Weather Impacts Mountain Time Zone:
— Eastern New Mexico. Thunderstorms with isolated large hail and severe wind gusts will be possible on Saturday. I-40, US-60, US-62, US-70, US-84 may be affected.
Weather Impacts Central Time Zone:
— Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles, western and northern Kansas, southern Nebraska, northwest Missouri, and southern Iowa: Thunderstorms with hail and strong wind gusts are expected to develop this afternoon and evening. Locally very large hail is possible. I-27, I-29, I-35, I-40, I-70, and I-80 potentially impacted.
— Northern Texas Panhandle, Central and southern Kansas, northern Oklahoma, southwest Missouri, and northwest Arkansas: Thunderstorms with isolated severe wind gusts and hail are possible Friday. I-35 and I-44 potentially impacted.
— Central and western Texas into central and western Oklahoma, much of Kansas, and south-central and eastern Nebraska. Thunderstorms with isolated large hail and severe wind gusts will be possible on Saturday. I-10, I-20, I-27, I-29, I-35, I-40, I-44, I-70, and I-80 may be affected.
— Southern Wisconsin. Flood Warning through Saturday afternoon, with some locations improving sooner, where minor river flooding may place water over roads and affect low-lying areas near the Wisconsin, Baraboo, Yellow, and Kickapoo river corridors.
— Eastern Iowa. Flood Warning continuing in parts of the region through Wednesday evening, with water over roads, flooded low spots, and slower travel near the Iowa, Cedar, and Wapsipinicon river corridors.
— Northern Illinois. Flood Warning lasting into Sunday morning, with water over roads and flooded low spots near the Fox, Des Plaines, and Illinois river corridors.
— The Wabash Valley from eastern Illinois into western Indiana. Flood Warning through Tuesday morning with continued lowland flooding and water over roads near the Wabash River, creating recurring slow travel and detours in flood-prone areas.
Weather Impacts Eastern Time Zone:
— Upstate New York into Vermont. Elevated wildfire risk through early evening with south winds 15 to 25 mph, gusts 30 to 40 mph, and very dry air, which may lead to fast-moving grass or brush fires and localized smoke restrictions. I-87, I-89, and I-90 may be affected.
— Eastern New York. Red Flag Warning beginning around midday and continuing through early evening with south winds 10 to 15 mph, gusts up to 35 mph, and very low humidity. Any fire that starts could spread quickly and produce smoke near roads. I-84, I-87, I-88, and I-90 impacted.
— East-central coastal Florida. Wind Advisory through late evening with northeast winds 15 to 25 mph and gusts near 35 mph, creating difficult travel for high-profile vehicles and loose-object hazards. I-95, US-1, FL A1-A impacted.
— East-central Michigan. Flood Warning through Friday afternoon, , where water over roads and flooded low spots remain possible near the Saginaw and Shiawassee river corridors.
— Lower Michigan, especially the I-96 corridor. Flood Warning through Tuesday morning, with some locations improving sooner, as flooding continues near the Grand and Thornapple river corridors and may place water over roads and flood low spots.
— Northwest Indiana. Flood Warning through Monday morning, with shorter-duration flooding improving sooner in some places, as water remains over roads and in low-lying areas near the Kankakee and Wabash river corridors.
— Northern Indiana into northern Ohio. Flood Warning through Saturday morning in some locations and through Friday evening in others, with flooded low spots and some roads under water near the Tippecanoe, Saint Joseph, and Killbuck Creek corridors.
— Central New York. Flood Warning through Friday evening, with moderate flooding still ongoing near Cayuga Lake through midday and minor flooding lingering near Onondaga Lake afterward. Water over roads, flooded low spots, and lakeshore impacts remain possible.
