  • Winter storm impacting portions of the Pacific Northwest bringing accumulating snow, significant ice accretion, and gusty winds through this evening.
  • Heavy rains and gusty winds expected for much of northern California and along the western coast through Monday evening.
  • Wintry mix and ice accretion expected with next winter storm arriving later this evening and lingering through Monday for much of the central US.

These are the most significant weather impacts to RV travel over the next two to three days. I do not list every area of rain, showers, or breezy winds. It would be exhausting (for both of us!). Weather Impacts Pacific Time Zone:

 Eastern and south-central WA; northern ID: Winter Weather Advisories through noon. Additional snow accumulations up to an inch with a light glaze of ice. I-90, US-2, US-12, US-97 impacted.

 North-central OR: Freezing Fog Advisory until this afternoon. Visibility as low as a quarter inch. Portion of I-84 and US-97 impacted.

 Southwestern WA; portions of north-central OR: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories until early this afternoon. Up to an inch of snow and ice possible with up to 6 inches of snow elevations above 2500 feet. Wind gusts up to 40 mph. I-84, US-12, US-26 impacted.

— WA/OR Border including the Upper Hood River Valley and Columbia River Gorge: Ice Storm Warning until this afternoon. Up to 3/4 of an inch of ice accumulation expected. Gusts up to 45 mph possible. Extremely difficult travel expected. I-84 impacted.

Northern CA and western CA coast: Flood Watch in effect through Monday night. Heavy rains expected are expected to begin this morning and linger through Monday. Flash flooding is possible in heavier and prolonged rain showers. I-5, US-101, CA-1 impacted.

— East-central CA in Sierra Nevada: Winter Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings until Saturday afternoon. Northern Sierra Nevada warnings expire Monday night. Snow above 6,000 feet with snow accumulation of 6-18 inches and wind gusts up to 45 mph. Portions of I-80, US-50, CA-120, CA-108 impacted.

Much of western CA coastline into portions of Southwest CA: Wind Advisory in effect until early Monday afternoon. Wind gusts 40 to 50 mph expected. I-5, US-101, CA-1, CA-33, CA-166 impacted.

Portions of Southwest CA San Bernardino County Mountains: Winter Weather Advisory until early this afternoon. Expect a general 1 to 6 inches of snow with over 6 inches of snow possible above 8000 feet. CA-38 impacted.

Portion of southern NV in the Eastern Sierra Slopes: Winter Storm Warning until 10am. Total snow accumulations of 6-12 inches above 7,000 feet and up to 2-3 feet at the crest.

Weather Impacts Mountain Time Zone:

 Much of northern half of MT (not incl. Black Falls region): Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories until mid-afternoon. Up to two inches of snow and a tenth of an inch of ice possible in northwestern MT. For others expect a wintry mix with a light glaze of ice and up to an inch of snow. I-90, I-94, US-2, US-87 impacted.

Southern NV and northern AZ Mountains: Winter Weather Advisories in effect through Monday morning. 2 to 6 inches of snow expected in NV mountains with light accumulations of an inch in AZ mountains. I-15, I-40, US-89, US-60 impacted.

Southern NM Mountains: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories in effect through early Monday morning. 3 to 5 inches of snow with 6 to 10 inches above 7500 feet. Wind gusts up to 45 mph possible. US-70, US-82 impacted.

Weather Impacts Central Time Zone:

— Portions of far northeastern SD and southwestern MN: Winter Weather Advisory through noon. Blowing snow expected. I-29, I-90, US-14, US-75 impacted.

South-central SD Todd and Trip Counties and north-central NE: Winter Weather Advisory through noon. Blowing snow expected. US-18, US-20, US-83 impacted.

Much of central and eastern OK; eastern KS; northern and western AR; much of MO; southeastern IA; central IL: Winter Storm Watches, Warnings, and Advisories go into effect late this evening through Monday afternoon. Ice accumulations expected of up to a tenth of an inch of ice or more with wind gusts 35 to 45 mph possible. I-29, I-35, I-40, I-44, I-49, I-57, I-70, I-72 impacted.

Portions of northern and western AR in higher elevations: Ice Storm Warning from this evening through Monday afternoon. Ice accumulations up to a half inch with wind gusts up to 35 mph. Extreme travel conditions expected. I-40, US-64, US-412 impacted.

Weather Impacts Eastern Time Zone:

No significant weather expected to impact RV travel.
