Welcome RV trip planners and drivers!

Set Yourself Up for Success!

With just a few clicks, calculate the safest route around sketchy weather and quickly see driving conditions caused by weather all on one map.

Finding the safest route that skips driving in bad weather can be an overwhelming chore. We all:

Worry about getting caught driving in winds and sketchy weather.
Waste hours going back and forth between maps and apps looking at weather in places we might be driving through.
End up frustrated by vague and generic forecasts that don’t take into account towing or high-profile vehicles.
Struggle to decide whether to bug out or hunker down when you see a bad weather report.

Hi, I’m Dave Titley, a retired meteorologist and avid RVer. For over 30 years I kept US Navy ships and hazardous weather apart from each other. Now, I help RVers.

Several years ago, my wife and I began traveling across the country in an Airstream, and learned very quickly the effect that weather has on handling a towed vehicle, whether it was snow, rain, or winds. At the same time, friends asked for my help planning their travels. Being one person, eventually I couldn’t handle all the requests anymore, and created RV Weather.

Now, RV Weather and the SureRoute algorithm means all RVers can take advantage of our expertise in weather forecasting and understanding of how weather impacts RVs on the road, to plan safe trips for themselves.

RV Weather can plot a road trip that goes around dangerous weather.

No other product can take your travel preferences of locations, waypoints, & travel speed, to create a route plan that avoids the weather that YOU choose to avoid.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is RV Weather an app?

No, it is a website you can access from any phone, tablet, or computer.

How is SureRoute different from weather apps?

SureRoute translates basic weather data into information about the impacts to driving conditions caused by weather, and then takes that information and your travel preferences to calculate a safer, and more enjoyable trip route. We make it easy to see where it is safe to drive, and where it is more risky.

How is SureRoute different from my GPS?

SureRoute is a planning tool, not a tracker in your vehicle. Our road database has been scrubbed to delete roads inappropriate for RVs and takes into account your vehicle size and weight restrictions when calculating a suggested route. Your GPS is best to provide turn by turn directions.

What do you mean by weather impact?

We use the term “weather impact” to describe the effect that weather conditions can have on driving performance, handling, and safety of high profile and towed RVs. Seven types of weather are considered when calculating the level of impact to driving conditions.

How do I use SureRoute?

Use SureRoute as a planning tool to find a route that avoids unsafe driving conditions. It takes into consideration your trip preferences such as driving speed, destination, and preferred weather impact level to drive in, and SureRoute will suggest a route for you, including overnight stops and possible weather delays. Already have your trip stops planned? Use SureRoute to alert you to possible weather impacts on your trip days before they become a problem.

Can I plan a trip in Canada and Mexico?

Currently, you can see the driving impacts from southern Canada to northern Mexico. We will be adding routing outside the lower 48 later in 2025.

Do I have to pay for a whole year?

Both monthly and annual subscriptions are available. You can pause your monthly subscription while you are not traveling, and only pay for the months you are on the road.

Is there anything free?

Yes! A daily travel forecast highlighting weather that will impact driving calls out the roadways most affected is available on the web site, or sign up to have it emailed to you every morning. We also have a curated collection of the most helpful weather graphics from around the internet, making RV Weather the one place to easily find information on winds, hail, hurricanes, as well as weather Watches, Warning, and Advisories.
