  • Areas of severe thunderstorms expected today and tonight across a broad area of the U.S. from Montana and Wyoming to Virginia and North Carolina. Localized flash flooding also possible in this region.
  • Heat wave continues across much of the Midwest and southern tier of the U.S.

Pacific:

— No significant weather impacts to RV travel today or Wednesday.

Mountain:

— Portions of southeast MT: Flood Watch through this evening. Thunderstorms producing heavy rain may cause localized flash flooding. I-94 potentially impacted.

Most of MT along and east of I-15; northeast WY: Areas of severe thunderstorms possible today. Damaging wind gusts and large hail are the main threats. I-15, I-90, I-94 potentially impacted.

— Portions of northeast ID; most of MT along and north of I-90: Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms possible Thursday. Damaging wind gusts and large hail are the main threats. I-15, I-90, I-94 potentially impacted.

Central:

— Eastern and south-central KS; central and southern MO; southern IL; western KY; western TN; northern and west-central MS: Excessive Heat Warnings through Thursday. Heat index values 110-114 deg F. I-24, I-40, I-44, I-55, I-57, I-64, I-65, I-70 impacted.

— Southern IL; western KY: Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms Thursday. Damaging wind gusts and large hail are the main threats. I-24, I-57, I-64, I-70 potentially impacted.

Eastern:

— Southern IN: Excessive Heat Warning through Thursday. Heat Index Values around 110 deg F. I-64 impacted.

— Extreme southern MI; most of northern IN; western, central and southeast OH; west-central WV: Flood Watches from excessive rainfall through today. I-64, I-69, I-70, I-71, I-75, I-77, I-79, I-80/90, OH Turnpike and IN Toll Road potentially impacted.

— Greater Washington DC area including DC, parts of northern VA; central MD to the north of Baltimore: Flood Watch for excessive rainfall this afternoon through late tonight. Major highways potentially impacted include I-66, I-70, I-95, Washington DC and Baltimore Beltways.

Central and southern IN; southwest OH; central and eastern KY; eastern TN; central and southern WV; southern and southwest VA; NC; northern SC: Areas of severe thunderstorms possible today. Damaging wind gusts and large hail are the main threats. Major highways potentially impacted include I-40, I-64, I-65, I-70, I-71, I-74, I-75, I-77, I-81, I-85, I-95.

— Southwest IL; southern KY; northeast TN; most of VA, NC and SC; northern and eastern GA: Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms possible Thursday. Damaging winds and large hail are the main threats. I-24, I-26, I-40, I-64, I-65, I-69, I-74, I-77, I-81, I-85, I-95 potentially impacted.
