  • A series of winter storms continue to bring heavy snow and high winds to the Pacific Northwest, Northern Rockies, northern California and the Sierra Nevada.
  • Strong winds today and tonight over much of Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York and New England.
  • Still potential for damaging winds and a couple of tornadoes through midday today on the Florida Panhandle.

Pacific:

Central and northern WA; northern ID: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories (near the coast) this afternoon continue through this evening. Snow accumulations will range from a few inches near the coast and around Puget Sound to 10-16 inches inland to 1-2 feet in the Cascades. Wind gusts to 40 mph. Major highways impacted include I-5, I-82, I-90, US-395.

— Southwest WA: Winter Weather Advisory this morning through Thursday morning. 1-6 inches snow, lowest accumulations on valley floors.

— Southeast WA and northeast OR Blue Mountains: Winter Storm Warnings through Thursday afternoon. Snow accumulations 6-18 inches and wind gusts to 40 mph.

Central and southern OR coast: High Wind Warning through midday today. Gusts to 60 mph. US-101 impacted.

OR Cascades: Winter Storm Warnings through Thursday afternoon. Accumulations of 6-12 inches in the valleys and 1-2 feet at higher elevations are likely. Wind gusts to 45 mph. I-84, US-395 impacted.

— South-central OR; northeast CA: Wind Advisory today. Gusts to 45 mph. US-395 impacted.

South-central, southeast and east-central OR; northern and northeast NV; southwest ID: Winter Weather Advisories Thursday and Thursday night. Accumulations will range from 1-3 inches in lower elevations and valley floors to 4-8 inches in the mountains. I-80, I-84 impacted.

Northern coastal CA: Wind Advisories through this evening. Wind gusts generally 30-40 mph along the coast and up to 55 mph on higher elevation exposed headlands. US-101, CA-1 impacted.

Northern CA I-5 from Weed north to Yreka: Wind Advisory through this evening. Gusts to 45 mph. I-5 impacted.

Northern CA and adjacent south-central OR, including Siskiyou Summit: Winter Storm Warnings this afternoon through Thursday afternoon. Accumulations will range from 5-10 inches around 3000 feet to 10-20 inches in the higher elevations. Wind gusts to 45 mph. I-5, US-395 impacted.

CA Sierra Nevada: Winter Storm Warnings this evening through Friday morning. Snow accumulations will range from 2-8 inches at lower elevations to 1-3 feet near and west of US-395 and Donner Pass. Wind gusts 45-65 mph except up to 100 mph on exposed summit ridge lines. I-80, US-50, US-395 highly impacted.

West-central NV: Wind Advisory through this evening. Wind gusts 45-55 mph. I-80 impacted.

— East-central NV: Wind Advisory Thursday and Thursday night. Gusts to 45 mph. US-6, US-50 impacted.

Mountain:

Central and western MT; most of ID north of I-84: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories this afternoon through Friday morning. Accumulations ranging from 4-12 inches. Very cold wind chill temperatures and gusts to 45 mph. I-15, I-90 impacted.

— Western WY and adjacent south-central MT: Winter Storm Watches Thursday morning through Friday afternoon. Snow accumulations 8-12 inches in the valleys to 1-2 feet in the mountains and in Yellowstone. Wind gusts to 45 mph.

Southeast WY I-80 Summit between Laramie and Cheyenne; also I-80 between Laramie and Rawlins: Ground Blizzard Warning continues through this afternoon. Wind gusts to 60 mph, windchill temperatures of -25 deg F and near zero visibility due to blowing and drifting snow. I-80 highly impacted.

Portions of central and southeast WY, including the Wind River Mountains: High Wind Watches Thursday morning through late Thursday night. I-25, I-80 impacted.

Western UT west of I-15: Wind Advisories midday Thursday through late Thursday night. Gusts to 55 mph. I-80 impacted.

Central:

— Southwest and south-central LA: Wind Advisory today. Gusts to 35 mph. I-10, I-49 impacted.

— Far-south TX: Dense Fog Advisory this morning. I-2 impacted.

Western FL Panhandle; adjacent southern AL: Tornado Watch through late this morning. Wind gusts to 70 mph, quarter-sized hail and a couple of tornadoes are possible. I-10, I-65 potentially impacted.

Eastern:

— Central and eastern FL Panhandle; southwest GA: Thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds and a tornado or two are possible through early this afternoon. I-10 potentially impacted.

— MI Upper Peninsula Lake Superior shoreline; northern MI Lower Peninsula: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories for Lake Effect snows through Thursday morning. 4-7 inches likely in many places. Wind gusts 40-50 mph. I-75 impacted.

— Most of MI Lower Peninsula: Wind Advisory through late this evening. Gusts to 45 mph. I-69, I-75, I-94, I-96 impacted.

Portions of northeast WV; far-western MD; south-central PA: Wind Advisory through this evening. Gusts to 50 mph. I-68, I-70/76/PA Turnpike, I-99 impacted.

North-central and north-east PA; NY north of I-84; Long Island; CT; RI; MA; VT; NH; ME: Wind Advisories through this evening. Gusts to 50 mph. All roads in the Northeast impacted.

Western NY south of Buffalo downwind of Lake Erie: Winter Weather Advisory this afternoon through midday Thursday for lake effect snow. Up to 4-7 inches snow and gusts to 45 mph. I-90 / NY Thruway impacted.

Western NY north of Syracuse downwind of Lake Ontario: Lake Effect Snow Warning this evening though Thursday evening. 4-7 inches snow at lower elevations and 8-15 inches across the Tug Hill Plateau. Wind gusts to 50 mph. I-81 impacted.

Western NY north of Syracuse downwind of Lake Ontario: High Wind Warning today. Gusts to 60 mph. I-81 impacted.

Coastal and Down East ME: High Wind Warning this afternoon through midnight. Gusts to 60 mph. I-95 impacted.

Eastern TN along the NC border: High Wind Warning this evening through mid-morning today. Gusts 60-70 mph. I-26, I-40 impacted.
