  • Widespread strong, gusty winds remain an issue from the Southwest into the High Plains, These winds will impact the Midwest and Northeast on Thursday. Strong winds likely persist through Sunday.
  • Pacific storm brings high elevation snow and low elevation rain to the Northwest and California Sierra Nevada Mountains. Heavy snow moves into Northern High Plains Friday and through the weekend.
  • Isolated severe thunderstorms will be possible across eastern Oklahoma today.

Pacific:

Southwest and south-central OR; parts of northern CA: Wind Advisories today and this evening. Gusts 45-55 mph. I-5, US-101, US-395 impacted.

CA Sierra Nevada above 5000 feet: Winter Storm Warnings this evening through Friday afternoon. Snow accumulations up to 1-2 feet. I-80, US-50 impacted.

— CA eastern slopes Sierra Nevada and adjacent western and west-central NV, including Reno: Wind Advisories this evening through Thursday morning. Wind gusts to 55 mph. I-80, US-395 impacted.

— Southern NV north of Las Vegas: Wind Advisory Thursday and Thursday evening. Gusts to 50 mph. I-15 impacted.

Mountain:

Southern and eastern MT and northern WY: Winter Storm Watch Friday and Saturday. Up to 12-18 inches snow possible in the higher elevations. I-25 / I-90 impacted.

— Central and north-central NM: Wind Advisories through midday today. Gusts to 50 mph. I-25, I-40 impacted.

Central:

Western, northwest and north-central ND; northwest SD: Winter Storm Watches Friday night through Sunday morning. 6-12 inches snow possible wind wind gusts to 45 mph. I-90, I-94 impacted.

— Northeastern MN: Winter Weather Advisories today. Snow accumulations 2-5 inches, perhaps mixed with freezing rain. I-35 impacted.

IA, WI, IL, MO: Strong winds from the south gusting 30-45 mph today, producing significant cross-winds for east-west travelers. Additional advisories possible.

Parts of southwest and southern MO: Wind Advisory today. Gusts to 45 mph. I-44 impacted.

— Central and eastern KS: Slight risk of severe thunderstorms late Thursday afternoon and Thursday evening. Large hail and a couple of tornadoes will be possible. I-35, I-70 potentially impacted.

Central and eastern OK; southeast KS: Slight risk of severe thunderstorms late this afternoon and evening. I-35, I-40, I-44 potentially impacted.

Eastern:

— KY, OH, western MD, western PA, western and northern NY: Strong gusty winds from the southwest Thursday, gusting 30-40 mph. Advisories possible. Major highways impacted include I-64, I-65, I-68, I-70, I-71, I-75, I-76, I-77, I-79, I-80, I-81, I-87, I-88, I-90, OH Turnpike, PA Turnpike.
