Travel & RV Weather Forecast Wednesday 19 October


  • Great Lakes storm gradually weakens its grip on the eastern U.S.
  • Two more days of warm, dry and smokey weather for the West and Northwest.
  • Expect colder and wetter conditions over the Pacific Northwest, spreading into the Rockies, starting this weekend. Be prepared for winter conditions at higher elevations.

Pacific:

— Much of WA, northern OR, northern and western ID; northwest MT: Continued significant wildfire smoke today. Smoke will last until the weekend storms move the air and rain on the active fires.

— Southern CA Coast between Los Angeles and San Diego: Heat Advisory today. High temperatures in the upper 90’s.

Mountain:

Northwest MT Rocky Mountain Front: Strong winds likely late tonight and Thursday. Wind gusts 40-55 mph. I-15 potentially impacted.

Central:

— No significant weather impacts to RV travel today or Thursday.

Eastern:

MI eastern Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Peninsula: Winter Weather Advisories continue today. Additional accumulations of 1-3 inches of wet snow possible. Wind gusts to 35 mph. Most roads should be OK. I-75 potentially impacted.

— Portions of MI Upper Peninsula shoreline along Lake Superior: Lakeshore Flood Warnings in effect this morning. Large waves may flood coastal roads, homes and businesses.

— Portions of northwest PA and adjacent western NY: Some wet snow mixed in with rain continues today and tonight. Up to 2 inches accumulation possible on grassy surfaces. Minimal or no impact on roads and RV travel.

Eastern and northeast ME: Flood Watch continues through midday today through. 2-3 inches of total rainfall expected with over 4 inches of rain in some areas. I-95 potentially impacted.
