  • Strong to severe thunderstorms, capable of producing damaging gusts, hail and a few tornadoes, likely across parts of the central and southern Plains today.
  • Record heat likely from California to Texas through the week and into the weekend.

Pacific:

— Southern CA Ventura and Los Angeles County Mountains: Wind Advisory through early this morning. Gusts to 45 mph. I-5, I-10 impacted.

Mountain:

— South-central and southeast WY: Wind gusts 30-45 mph this afternoon and early evening. Advisories unlikely. I-25, I-80 impacted.

Northeast WY, eastern CO, northeast NM: Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible today. Damaging gusts, hail and a tornado or two should be expected. I-25, I-70, I-76, I-90 potentially impacted.

— North-central NM: Flash Flood Watch Wednesday afternoon and evening. Heavy rain associated with thunderstorms may cause flash flooding.

Central:

Southwest SD; most of NE; KS except the southeast portion of the state; OK and TX Panhandles: Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible today. Damaging gusts, hail and a tornado or two should be expected. Greatest risk is over south-central NE and northern KS, between I-80 and I-70. I-29, I-35, I-40, I-70, I-76, I-80, I-90 potentially impacted.

— Parts of central TX and southwest TX including Big Bend National Park: Excessive Heat Warning this afternoon and evening. Temperatures will reach 105 – 109 deg F. I-10, I-20 impacted.

— Southern IL, southeast MO: Dense Fog Advisories through mid-morning. I-55, I-57, I-64, I-70 impacted.

Central and northern AR, western TN: Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible today. Damaging gusts are the primary threat. I-30, I-40, I-55 potentially impacted.

Eastern:

— Much of NY, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI: Gusty winds from the south spreading eastward across NY and eastern New England this afternoon into tonight. Gusts 30-35 mph. Advisories unlikely. I-87, I-88, I-89, I-90, I-91, I-93, NY Thruway impacted

— Portions of northeast FL and south-central GA: Dense Fog Advisories through mid-morning. I-10, I-75 impacted.
