  • Strong to severe thunderstorms and locally heavy rainfall will be possible today and tonight from the central Plains into the Mid Mississippi Valley.
  • Severe weather threat decreases on Wednesday.
  • Expect 90s and triple digits today from the southern Plains into parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley.
  • High elevation snows and strong winds return to the Pacific Northwest and much of the Rocky Mountain region on Wednesday night and Thursday, respectively.

Pacific:

— WA Cascade Mountains: 1-3 inches of snow likely at pass levels Wednesday night. Winter Weather Advisories possible. I-90 potentially impacted.

— Southern CA Los Angeles County Mountains: Wind Advisories this afternoon through tonight. Gusts to 50 mph. Winds strongest through the I-5 corridor. I-5, I-10 impacted.

Mountain:

Northwest and north-central MT: High Wind Watch Thursday. Gusts to 60 mph. I-15 impacted.

Central:

— Parts of eastern ND: Flood warnings continue due to excessive rainfall. Some road in the vicinity of I-29 may be impacted.

— West-central TX: Strong winds gusting 30-40 mph mid-morning through this afternoon. Advisories unlikely. I-10, I-20 impacted.

Southern and eastern NE; northern and eastern KS; southeast IA; much of MO: Scattered severe thunderstorms expected through tonight. Large hail, wind damage and a few tornadoes are expected. Area at greatest risk includes southeast NE, northeast KS and I-29 in that region. I-29, I-35, I-44, I-70, I-80 potentially impacted.

— Northern MO: Slight chance of flash flooding caused by multiple thunderstorms with heavy rain. Rain rates could reach 1-2 inches / hour. Advisories possible. I-70 potentially impacted.

Eastern:

— No significant weather impacting RV travel today or Wednesday.
