** Heads Up ** Two separate storms are creating hazardous RV travel conditions for much of the country west of the Mississippi today and Wednesday. High winds, snow, and an increasing severe weather threat are the main hazards.


  • Snow and high winds for much of I-40 and even I-10 in the Southwest today and tonight.
  • Snowstorm moves across the Plains Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Expect a significant severe weather threat to develop Wednesday and Thursday from northeast Texas, eastward to the Gulf Coast, and north to the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes.

Pacific:

Western OR; northwest CA: Winter Storm Warnings (above 2000 feet) and Advisories this morning (above 500 feet) through this afternoon. Additional accumulations of 1-3 inches at 500 feet and up to 6 more inches at 2000 feet. Wind gusts 35-40 mph. I-5, I-84, US-101 impacted.

Northeast OR Blue Mountains and adjacent southeast WA: Winter Storm Warning continues this morning. Additional snowfall up to 6 inches. I-84 impacted.

Central CA coast: Wind Advisories through this evening. Gusts to 50 mph. US-101, CA-1 impacted.

Southern CA: High Wind Warnings (mountains and Mojave Desert) and Advisories through this evening. Wind gusts generally to 50 mph, except 60 mph in the Mojave Desert and 60-90 mph in the San Bernardino, Riverside and San Diego County mountains. I-5, I-8, I-10, I-15, I-40, US-6, US-395, CA-58 impacted.

Eastern NV: Wind Advisories today. Gusts to 50 mph. I-80, US-6, US-50, US-95 impacted.

Southern and western NV: Wind Advisories through Wednesday morning. Gusts 50-55 mph. I-15, I-80, US-6, US-50, US-93 impacted.

Southern CA San Bernardino, Riverside and San Diego County Mountains: Winter Storm Warnings above 4500 feet continue through this evening. 1-2 inches additional snowfall and wind gusts 60-90 mph. I-8, I-15 impacted.

Mountain:

Much of central and eastern ID; western, central and southern MT; central and northern WY: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories though tonight. Accumulations generally 2-6 inches in the Plains and Valleys, and 5-15 inches in the mountains and higher passes. Wind gusts 35-50 mph. I-15, I-25, I-90, I-94 impacted.

Much of southwest and south-central ID: Wind Advisory this morning. Gusts 40-50 mph. I-84 impacted.

South-central WY; northwest CO; northeast UT: High Wind Warnings and Watches this evening through midday Wednesday. Gusts to 60 mph. I-80 impacted.

Southeast WY and adjacent far-western NE: High Wind Warnings today. Gusts to 65 mph. I-25, I-80 impacted.

Southern and parts of central and east-central UT; central and southern CO; northern, most of central and most of eastern AZ; western and northern NM: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories this afternoon through Wednesday. Accumulations generally 2-6 inches in the lower elevations and southern portions, to 6-15 inches over much of the southwest above 6000 feet and CO. Wind gusts 40-55 mph. I-10 (southeast AZ), I-15, I-17, I-25, I-40, I-70 impacted.

Southern AZ; most of NM except north-central and northwest portions of state: High Wind Warnings and Advisories today. Gusts 45-65 mph. I-10, I-17, I-19, I-25, I-40 impacted.

Southern NM; far-west TX: High Wind Watch late tonight through Wednesday afternoon. Gusts to 60 mph. I-10 impacted.

Central:

Southwest ND; SD; much of central and western MN: Winter Weather Advisories this evening through Wednesday morning. A few inches of snow with wind gusts 40-55 mph. I-29, I-90, I-94 impacted.

Much of central and northeast ND: Wind Advisories this afternoon and tonight. Gusts to 50 mph. I-29, I-94 impacted.

Southeast ND; northeast SD; west-central MN: BLIZZARD Warning tonight and Wednesday morning. 1-3 inches of snow with wind gusts to 60 mph. I-29, I-94 impacted.

East-central and northeast NE and adjacent IA: Wind Advisories tonight. Gusts to 50 mph. I-29 impacted. I-80 on southern boundary of this region.

Western KS: Winter Storm Warning tonight through Wednesday night. 6-8 inches snow and wind gusts 35-45 mph. I-70 impacted.

Central and northern KS; southeast NE; northwest MO; south-central and southwest IA: Winter Storm Watches Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning. 4-6 inches snow and wind gusts to 40 mph. I-35, I-70, I-80 impacted.

Much of the TX Panhandle: High Wind Warning today. Gusts to 60 mph. I-27, I-40 impacted.

Western TX Guadalupe, Delaware, and Davis Mountains: High Wind Warnings through Wednesday night. Wind gusts to 85 mph. Highest in Guadalupe mountains. Wind gusts to 65 mph across the interstates. I-10, I-20 (including the split) impacted.

Most of central, northern and eastern TX; most of OK except Panhandle; AR; LA except southeast portion of state; most of MO; south-central and southeast IA; most of IL except northern portion of state; western KY; western and central TN; west-central and northern MS; northern AL: High Wind Warnings (Paducah KY / Cape Girardeau MO area) and Advisories today and tonight. Wind gusts mostly 40-50 mph, except near 60 mph in the Paducah / Cape Girardeau region. Major highways impacted include I-10, I-20, I-22, I-24, I-30, I-35, I-39, I-40, I-44, I-45, I-49, i-55, I-57, I-64, I-70, I-72, I-74, I-80.

Eastern KS; west-central and northwest MO: A few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening. I-29, I-35, I-70 potentially impacted.

East and northeast TX; southeast OK; AR; most of LA north of I-10; west-central and northern MS; western TN: Widely scattered severe thunderstorms possible across TX and OK late Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday evening. Another area of severe thunderstorms likely develops across the lower Mississippi Valley late Wednesday evening into the overnight hours. I-10, I-20, I-22, I-30, I-35, I-40, I-49, I-55 potentially impacted.

— Southeast LA and adjacent MS: Dense Fog advisory this morning. I-10, I-12, I-55, I-59 impacted.

— Eastern LA; MS; AL; western FL Panhandle; western and central TN; western KY: Widely scattered severe thunderstorms possible Thursday and Thursday evening. Damaging wind gusts and tornadoes are the primary threats. I-10, I-12, I-20, I-22, I-24, I-40, I-55, I-59, I-65, I-69, I-85 potentially impacted.

— Central TN; northern AL: Slight risk of Flash Flooding due to heavy rains Thursday and Thursday night. I-20, I-22, I-24, I-40, I-59, I-65 potentially impacted.

Eastern:

Central and southern MI; most of IN; western OH; central KY: Wind Advisories late this afternoon through Wednesday morning. Wind gusts generally 40-50 mph. I-64, I-65, I-69, I-70, I-74, I-75, I-80/90, I-94, I-95, OH Turnpike, IN Toll Road impacted.

Along the KY/NC Border: High Wind Warnings this afternoon and tonight. Gusts to 65 mph. I-26, I-40 impacted.

— Northwest PA; most of OH; central and southern IN; central KY: Widely scattered severe thunderstorms possible Thursday and Thursday evening. Damaging wind gusts and tornadoes are the primary threats. I-64, I-65, I-69, I-70, I-71, I-74, I-75, I-76, I-77, I-79, I-80, I-90, OH Turnpike potentially impacted.

— Eastern TN; western NC; northern GA: Slight risk of Flash Flooding due to heavy rains Thursday and Thursday night. I-20, I-26, I-40, I-75, I-81, I-85 impacted.
