** Heads Up ** RVers traveling the Northern and Central Plains today and Wednesday should be prepared for strong crosswinds, with wind gusts 40-60 mph. Highest winds today will be over southeast Wyoming. High winds Wednesday afternoon will spread from eastern Montana and the Dakotas to Nebraska. I-25, I-80, I-90, I-94 all significantly impacted.


  • Strong to severe thunderstorms possible this evening and tonight across parts of the Upper Midwest into the Central Plains.
  • Flash flooding possible this afternoon in the mountains north and northwest of Los Angeles.
  • On Wednesday the severe threat will move eastward to the Ohio, Tennessee, and mid- and lower-Mississippi Valleys.
  • Heavy rains likely across the Northeast Thursday and Friday.

Pacific:

— Southern CA coastal mountain ranges north and northwest of Los Angeles: Flood Watches this afternoon and evening. Rainfall rates could exceed 1 inch per hour. I-5 potentially impacted.

Mountain:

— Eastern MT and northern WY: Strong winds today and this evening. Gusts to 40 mph. I-90, I-94 impacted.

— Eastern MT, eastern WY, northeast CO: Strong winds Wednesday afternoon and evening. Gusts 40-55 mph. I-25, I-80, I-90, I-94 impacted.

— Southeast WY: High Wind Warnings through this afternoon. Gusts to 60 mph. I-25 between Wheatland and Chugwater, and I-80 between Laramie and Rawlins, and the I-80 summit west of Cheyenne impacted.

— Portions of southwest and south-central NM: Dense Fog Advisory this morning.

Central:

— Southwest and south-central ND; western and central SD: Wind Advisories late morning through this evening. Gusts to 50 mph. I-90 impacted.

— Much of ND; western and central SD; much of NE; northern KS: High winds Wednesday afternoon and evening. Gusts 50-60 mph. In South Dakota, High Wind Warnings and Watches are in effect for this time period. I-29, I-35, I-80, I-90, I-94 impacted.

— Eastern MN; WI; IA; northwestern IL; southeast NE; eastern KS; northwestern half of MO: Strong winds this afternoon. Gusts 30-40 mph. I-29, I-35, I-39, I-43, I-44, I-70, I-80, I-88, I-94 impacted.

— Southeast WI: Dense Fog Advisory this morning. I-41, I-43, I-94 impacted.

WI; southeast MN; IA; northwest IL; northwestern half of MO; southeast NE; eastern KS: Strong to marginally severe thunderstorms this evening and tonight. Damaging winds and severe hail are the main threats. Major highways potentially impacted include I-29, I-35, I-39, I-43, I-44, I-70. I-74, I-80, I-88, I-90, I-94.

— Southeastern half of MO; AR; northern LA; southern IL; KY; TN; northern and central MS; northern and central AL: Strong to marginally severe thunderstorms Wednesday. Damaging winds and severe hail are the main threats. Major highways potentially impacted include I-20, I-24, I-30, I-40, I-44, I-49, I-55, I-57, I-59, I-64, I-65, I-70, I-72.

Eastern:

— Most of IN; OH; western WV; KY; TN; northwest GA: Strong to marginally severe thunderstorms Wednesday. Damaging winds and severe hail are the main threats. Major highways potentially impacted include I-40, I-59, I-64, I-65, I-69, I-70, I-71, I-74, I-75, I-76, I-77, I-80/90, I-81, OH Turnpike, IN Toll Road.

— North-central FL and adjacent GA: Dense Fog Advisories this morning. I-10, I-75 impacted.

— Northeast FL eastern Putnam County: Coastal Flood Warning through Wednesday morning. Moderate coastal flooding at high tide.
