** Heads Up ** RVers in or traveling through the Sierra Nevada range, the northern Rockies, Great Basin or Inter-Mountain West today or Wednesday should be prepared for high winds and significant snow accumulations above 5000 feet. The I-10 route west should not be impacted.


  • Winter storm brings significant higher elevations snows and high winds to the Sierra Nevada, Great Basin and Inter-Mountain West today and Wednesday.
  • Expect an outbreak of severe thunderstorms Thursday across portions of the Central and Southern Plains.
  • Extensive fog this morning in the Midwest, Appalachians, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeast.

Pacific:

Northeast OR and adjacent southeast WA Blue Mountains above 3000 feet: Winter Weather Advisory through early Wednesday morning. Accumulations of 4-10 inches are likely with highest amounts in the north. I-84 impacted.

Southern OR Cascades and adjacent northern CA: Winter Weather Advisories through early Wednesday morning. Snow levels 4000-4500 feet. Accumulations 3-6 inches in northern CA and up to 6-12 inches in OR. I-5 Siskiyou Summit impacted.

CA Sierra Nevada Mountains: Winter Storm Warnings on the western slopes and Winter Weather Advisories to the east. Warnings and Advisories effective from midday today through Wednesday evening. On the western slopes, snow accumulation 3-8 inches above 5500 feet and 10-16 inches above 7000 feet. Winds gusting to 55 mph. On the eastern slopes, expect 2-6 inches of snow above 5500 feet and west of US-395, with wind gusts to 45 mph. I-80, US-50, US-395 impacted.

— East Central NV Great Basin: Winter Weather Advisory Wednesday and Wednesday night. Snow accumulations 3-8 inches.

Most of central and southern NV; southeast CA, and the Riverside and San Diego County Mountains: Wind Advisories midday today through early tonight. Gusts to 50 mph. I-8, I-10, I-15, I-40, US-50, US-395, CA-58 impacted.

Mountain:

Northwest MT along and east of the Rocky Mountain Front: Winter Storm Warnings, Watches and Advisories this evening through Wednesday night. 2-8 inches of snow likely with gusts to 40 mph. I-15 impacted.

Southwest MT; eastern ID; western UT: High Wind Warnings this afternoon through midday Wednesday. Gusts to 60 mph. I-15, I-70, I-80, I-84 impacted.

— Northwest and west-central AZ: Wind Advisories midday today through late this evening. Gusts to 45 mph. I-40 impacted.

Northeast, central, and southwest UT, and adjacent southwest WY along the I-15 corridor: Winter Weather Advisories through midday Wednesday through Thursday night. Accumulations range from 2-5 inches in the southwest to 8-16 inches in the Wasatch and Uinta Ranges. I-15, I-70, I-80, I-84 impacted.

South-central WY: High Wind Warning this evening through Wednesday. Gusts to 60 mph. I-80 impacted.

— Southwest CO San Juan Mountains: Winter Storm Watch Wednesday evening through Friday morning. 12 to 20 inches snow possible with wind gusts to 45 mph. Snow amounts greater than a foot most likely above 9000 feet.

Central:

— Western MN; northwest IA; eastern NE; central and northeast KS; OK Panhandle: Strong winds Wednesday afternoon. Gusts to 40 mph. I-29, I-35, I-70, I-80, I-90, I-94 impacted.

— Central and southwest KS; western OK; TX Panhandle: Severe thunderstorms probable Thursday and Thursday night. Damaging hail and a couple of tornadoes possible. I-27, I-35, I-40, I-70 potentially impacted.

— Portions of west TX: Dense Fog Advisories this morning. I-10, I-20 impacted.

— Eastern and southern IL; adjacent southwest IN and western KY: Dense Fog Advisories this morning. Major highways impacted include I-24, I-55, I-57, I-64, I-70, I-74, I-80.

— Central and northern AL; adjacent south-central TN: Dense Fog Advisories this morning. I-20, I-22, I-65, I-85 impacted.

Eastern:

— Extreme northeast WV; northern, western and southwest VA; western NC; northwest SC; northern and northeast GA: Dense fog advisories this morning. Major highways impacted include I-20, I-26, I-40, I-64, I-66, I-77, I-81, I-85, I-95.

— Coastal SC: Dense Fog Advisory this morning. I-26, I-95 impacted.
