  • Expect occasional Severe Thunderstorms over portions of the Southern Plains, Gulf Coast & Deep South, and coastal Southeast through next Tuesday (22 March).
  • A storm developing in the central Plains today will move into the Great Lakes and Northeast U.S. by Saturday bringing the threat of strong winds, areas of heavy rain, severe thunderstorms, snow, and ice.
  • Strong to high winds today for western Oklahoma, western Texas and adjacent New Mexico.

Pacific:

— No significant weather impacts Thursday or Friday 17-18 March.

Mountain:

— Southeast WY; southern NE Panhandle; central and east-central CO; north-central NM: Winter Storm Warnings (central CO and Raton Pass) and Advisories continue today. Total accumulations on lower elevations of 2-5 inches; additional accumulations in the Warning areas of 2-6 inches. Snow will end from north to south starting midday today. I-25, I-70 impacted.

— West-central NM: Wind Advisory today. Gusts to 55 mph. I-40 impacted. I-25 on the eastern boundary of this. Advisory.

— Southeast and eastern NM; western OK; western, northern and northeast TX: High Wind Warnings (Guadalupe Mountains and I-10/I-20 split) and Advisories through tonight. High winds will spread from west to east. Winds will be strongest in general in the western portion of this region. Wind gusts generally 45-55 mph except 60-70 mph in the Guadalupe Mountains and around the I-10 / I-20 split. I-10, I-20, I-30, I-35, I-40, I-45 impacted.

Central:

— Central and west-central KS: Winter Storm Watches and Advisories for tonight and Friday morning. Wet snow accumulations of 1-3 inches and wind gusts to 55 mph. I-35, I-70 impacted.

— Southeast and eastern NM; western OK; western, northern and northeast TX: High Wind Warnings (Guadalupe Mountains and I-10/I-20 split) and Advisories through tonight. High winds will spread from west to east. Winds will be strongest in general in the western portion of this region. Wind gusts generally 45-55 mph except 60-70 mph in the Guadalupe Mountains and around the I-10 / I-20 split. I-10, I-20, I-30, I-35, I-40, I-45 impacted.

South-central and southeast OK; eastern TX; LA; southern MS: Strong to severe storms are expected Thursday afternoon into early Friday morning. Large hail and damaging winds will be the main hazards with this activity. However, a few tornadoes are possible, mainly across southeast LA and far southern MS, after midnight. I-10, I-20, I-30, I-35, I-40, I-49, I-55, I-59 potentially impacted.

— Southern IL; southwest IN; western KY; northwest TN; southeast LA; southern MS; southern AL and adjacent GA; FL Panhandle: Slight risk of severe thunderstorms Friday and Friday night.

Eastern:

— Southern DELMARVA Peninsula; southeastern and Tidewater VA; eastern NC and SC; southeast GA: A few strong and locally severe thunderstorms will be possible in this region Saturday and Saturday night.

— Much of northern and western GA; eastern FL Panhandle; coastal SC south of Myrtle Beach: Dense Fog Advisories through late this morning. I-10, I-16, I-20, I-75, I-85, I-95 impacted.

— North-central and northwest CT; RI; eastern MA: Dense Fog Advisories through early this afternoon. I-84, I-90 / Mass Pike, I-91, I-95 impacted.
