** Heads Up ** As of Thursday morning, ALL entrances to Yellowstone National Park remain CLOSED until at least through Sunday 19 June due to Flash Floods and extensive infrastructure damage inside the Park. The northern portion of the Park is closed until further notice. If you are planning to visit Yellowstone in the near future, check their website for latest conditions. You can also text “82190” to 888-777 and receive their latest road status and updates.


  • Scattered severe thunderstorms and localized flooding are across parts of the Northeast, Ohio Valley, and the Mid-Mississippi Valley. Tornadoes possible over parts of Pennsylvania and New York today.
  • Strong winds are expected to return across the southern Great Basin starting Friday.
  • Excessive heat persists in the Midwest and Southeast.

Pacific:

East-central CA; most of NV except northwest and far-southern portions of state: Wind Advisories (CA) and High Wind Watches (NV) for Friday: Gusts 50-60 mph. Strongest winds over central and eastern NV. I-80, US-50, I-395 impacted.

Mountain:

Southwest MT: High Wind Watch for Friday. Gusts to 60 mph. I-15 impacted.

Western UT along and west of I-15: High Wind Watch for Friday. Gusts to 60 mph. I-15, I-80 impacted.

— Yellowstone River through south-central MT: Flood Warnings continue through today. All of Yellowstone NP remains closed to visitors until Sunday 19 June at a minimum. The northern portion of the Park will be closed for weeks to months.

— Central and south-central, portions of southeast AZ: Excessive Heat Warnings today. Temperatures 108-113 deg F. I-8, I-10 impacted.

Central:

— MN, WI: Wind gusts this afternoon 30-40 mph. I-35, I-43, I-90, I-94 impacted.

Southeast NE; northeast KS; northern and central MO; central and west-central IL: Strong and severe thunderstorms develop late this evening and overnight. Damaging winds and large hail are the main threats. I-29, I-35, I-44, I-55, I-57, I-70 potentially impacted.

— Southern IL; southeast MO; southwest IN; western KY: Excessive Heat Warnings today. Heat indices 100 – 110 deg F. I-24, I-55, I-57, I-64, I-70 impacted.

Eastern:

— MI: Wind gusts 30-45 mph Thursday late morning through evening. Strong winds spread east to west. I-69, I-75, I-94, I-96 impacted.

Eastern and central OH; northern WV; western and central MD; PA along and west of I-81 and along and north of the PA Turnpike; western and northern NY: Scattered severe thunderstorms on Thursday. Large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes are expected. I-68, I-70, I-76, I-77, I-79, I-80, I-81, I-84, I-88, I-90, I-99, OH and PA Turnpikes, NY Thruway potentially impacted.
