  • Strong winds and blowing dust today over southern and southeast California, and the southern Nevada and western Arizona deserts.
  • A major late-winter storm impacts the Eastern U.S. Friday night and Saturday, bringing severe storms and flooding to the southeast and heavy snow from the Tennessee Valley to the Northeast.

— CA Sacramento Valley and Greater San Francisco Bay area: Wind Advisories today. Gusts 40-50mph. I-5, I-80, US-101, CA-99 impacted.

Southeast deserts and inland southern CA; southern NV; western and northwest AZ: High Wind Warnings (Los Angeles County Mountains), Wind Advisories and Blowing Dust Advisories today and tonight. Gusts 45-50 mph, except 50-60 in the coastal mountains and passes. I-5, I-8, I-10, I-15, I-40, CA-58 impacted.


— North-central, northeast and east-central AZ: Winter Weather Advisories today through early tonight. Up to 2-4 inches of snow expected with greater amounts above 7000 feet. I-17, I-40 impacted.

— Southeast WY: High Wind Watch Friday morning through Saturday evening for the Snowy Range Foothills. Gusts to 65 mph. I-80 impacted.

— Southwest CO: Winter Weather Advisories today through early tonight for the San Juan Mountains. 3-7 inches additional accumulation expected.

South-central CO, north-central NM as far south as Santa Fe: Winter Storm Warnings this afternoon through early Friday morning. 4-11 inches expected. I-25 highly impacted.

— Southeast CO; northern and central NM not covered by Winter Storm Warnings: Winter Weather Advisories this afternoon through early Friday morning. Snow accumulations generally 2-6 inches. I-25, I-40 impacted.

— Southeast AZ: Wind Advisory this afternoon and evening. Gusts to 45 mph. I-10 impacted.


Southern NE; southern IA; west-central IL; KS; MO except southeast corner of state; northwest AR; OK except southeast portion; TX Panhandle; northeast TX north of Dallas: Winter Storm Warnings (northern KS and northwest MO) and Winter Weather Advisories today and Friday. Storm moves from the northwest to the southeast. Heaviest snow accumulations (6-8 inches) along I-70 in KS. Otherwise generally 2-4 inches. Some light freezing rain mixes in over northeast TX and eastern OK. Major highways impacted include I-27, I-29, I-35, I-40, I-44, I-55, I-70, I-80

— Portions of east TX: Wind Advisories this afternoon through Friday morning. Gusts to 35 mph except near 40 mph along the coast. I-10, I-45 impacted.


Central and north-central KY; south-central OH: Winter Storm Watch Friday evening through Saturday afternoon. 3-5 inches snow possible. I-65, I-75 potentially impacted. I-70 and I-71 in OH are on the border of the Watch area.

Eastern and north-central WV; extreme western MD; south-central, central, north-central and northeast PA; much of western and northern NY, excluding the Hudson Valley; VT; northern NH; northern ME: Winter Storm Watches Friday evening through late Saturday night. Potential accumulations range from 5-8 inches in WV, MD and PA to 7-15 inches in NY and northern New England. Snow will be accompanied by winds gusting 35-45 mph. Major highways impacted include I-68, I-70 / 76 / PA Turnpike, I-80, I-81, I-87 / NY Thruway, I-88, I-89, I-91, I-93.

— Northern and central FL; southeast AL; central and southern GA; central and eastern SC; eastern NC; Tidewater VA: Slight risk of severe thunderstorms late Friday night through Saturday midday. I-4, I-10, I-16, I-26, I-75, I-95 potentially impacted.

— Northern FL and southern GA: Slight risk of Flooding and Flash floods Friday and Friday night. I-10, I-75, I-95 potentially impacted.
