Travel & RV Weather Forecast Sunday 17 July


  • Strong thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall and flooding across much of the Ohio Valley today.
  • Dangerous record-breaking heat to continue across the central United States and parts of the West.
  • Montana and northwest Wyoming may see high winds Monday from a summer low pressure system; these winds will spread across the Northern Plains early next week.

Pacific:

— Central CA San Joaquin Valley: Excessive Heat Warnings this afternoon through Monday evening. High temperatures 105-110 deg F each day. I-5, CA-99 impacted.

— Southern CA Coachella Valley and San Diego County Deserts, Salton Sea: Excessive Heat Warning through this evening. High temperatures 110-115 deg F. I-8, I-10 impacted.

Mountain:

North-central, central and southwest MT: High Wind Warnings Monday afternoon through Monday night. Gusts to 65 mph. I-15, I-90 impacted.

— Northeast MT and northwest ND: Widely scattered severe thunderstorms possible late Monday afternoon and Monday evening. Damaging winds are large hail are the primary threats.

— Northwest UT: Excessive Heat Warning this afternoon and evening. Temperatures may reach 105 deg F. I-15, I-80, I-84 potentially impacted.

— Southern UT, northern AZ lower elevations of Glen Canyon and Grand Canyon: Excessive Heat Warnings through Wednesday evening. Temperatures as high as 110-115 deg F.

Central:

— Northern ND and northwest MN: Widely scattered severe thunderstorms possible late Monday afternoon through Monday evening. Damaging winds are large hail are the primary threats. I-29, I-94 potentially impacted.

— Eastern MO; southern IL and western KY: Slight risk of flash flooding today and tonight from excessive rainfall. I-24, I-55, I-57, I-64, I-69, I-70, I-72 potentially impacted.

— North-central, central and southwest OK; northeast TX: Excessive Heat Warnings through Monday evening. Heat index values above 110 deg F. I-20, I-30, I-35, I-40, I-44, I-45 impacted.

Southern MO and northern AR; southern IL, western KY and extreme northwest TN: Scattered thunderstorms, a few of which may be severe today and this evening. Strong winds, large hail and even a brief tornado are all possible. I-24, I-55, I-57, I-69 potentially impacted.

Eastern:

Northeast KY; southern OH; western WV: Scattered thunderstorms, a few of which may be severe today and this evening. Strong winds, large hail and even a brief tornado are all possible. I-64, I-75, I-77 potentially impacted.

— Most of IN (except northwest portion) and OH; northern KY; northwest WV; western PA: Slight risk of flash flooding today and tonight from excessive rainfall. I-64, I-65, I-69, I-70, I-71, I-75, I-76, I-79, I-80, I-90, IN Toll Road, OH and PA Turnpikes potentially impacted.
