** Heads Up ** High winds return to much of the west today and Monday. If you are traveling to, or staying in, Glacier NP, be prepared for significant snowfall and wind gusts to 60 mph late Monday and Tuesday.


  • Intense heat prevails across portions of California eastward to the Mississippi Valley and Plains.
  • Strong winds expected today and Monday across much of interior California, the Great Basin and Southwest.
  • Severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are possible over parts of the Plains, Ohio Valley, and Mid Atlantic.
  • Periods of heavy rain and flood risks persist across the Northwest.
  • Significant snow for the northern Rockies above 5000 feet late Monday and Tuesday, including Glacier National Park.

Pacific:

— Much of eastern WA, eastern OR and northern ID: Flood Watches through Monday for excessive rainfall. I-84, I-90 potentially impacted.

South-central OR; eastern CA along and east of the Sierra Nevada Mountains; all of NV: Wind Advisories late this morning through this evening. Gusts 45-55 mph. I-15, I-40, I-80, US-50, US-395, CA-58 impacted.

Southern CA Ventura and Los Angeles County Mountains: High Wind Watch Monday evening through Tuesday morning. Wind gusts to 65 mph. I-5, US-101 impacted.

— Portions of southeast CA: Excessive Heat Warnings today. High temperatures 108-117 deg F. I-8, I-10 impacted.

Mountain:

— Much of western ID and central ID north of I-84; adjacent northwest MT: Flood Watches through Monday for excessive rainfall. I-90 potentially impacted.

Portions of northwest MT, including Glacier NP: Winter Storm Warnings and Watches Monday evening through Tuesday night above 5000 feet. Snow accumulations will range from a few inches at 5000 feet to potentially up to 2 feet of snow above 7000 feet.

Northwest and north-central MT, including Glacier NP: High Wind Watches late Monday night through late Tuesday night. Gusts to 60 mph. I-15 impacted.

Southeast MT; northeast and east-central WY: Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorm possible today and again on Monday. Damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats, but a couple of tornadoes are also possible. I-90 potentially impacted.

— Western WY: Wind gusts 30-45 mph this afternoon. I-80 impacted.

South-central and southeast WY: Wind gusts Monday afternoon 40-55 mph. Advisories likely. I-80 impacted.

Portions of eastern UT and western CO: Wind Advisories today and High Wind Watches for Monday. Gusts 40-50 mph today and up to 60 mph Monday. I-70 impacted.

— Southern UT; southern CO; northern and central AZ; northern and central NM: Widespread wind gusts to 45 mph this afternoon and evening. I-15, I-25, I-40, I-70 impacted.

— Western AZ: Wind Advisories this afternoon and evening. Gusts 40-50 mph. I-17, I-40 impacted.

— Much of southern AZ: Excessive Heat Warnings today. High temperatures 108-115 deg F. I-8, I-10 impacted.

Central:

Southern and eastern ND; western MN; most of SD; western and central NE; northwest KS: Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorm possible today. Damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats, but a couple of tornadoes are also possible. I-29, I-70, I-80, I-90, I-94 potentially impacted.

— Most of ND; northern, central and western SD; Scattered severe thunderstorms on Monday. Large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes are all possible. I-29, I-90, I-94 potentially impacted.

Southeast NE; northeast KS; northwest and central MO; central and southern IL: Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorm possible today. Damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats. I-29, I-35, I-44, I-55, I-57, I-64, I-70 potentially impacted.

— Eastern OK and portions of central TX: Excessive Heat Warnings today. Heat indices 105 – 112 deg F. I-10, I-20, I-35, I-40, I-44 impacted.

— Southern WI and northern IL: Scattered severe thunderstorms on Monday. Large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes are all possible. Some wind gusts may be greater than 75 mph. I-39, I-43, I-80, I-88, I-90 potentially impacted.

Eastern:

Central and southwest IN: Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorm possible today. Damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats. I-64, I-65, I-69, I-70 potentially impacted.

— Northern IN; southern MI; much of OH: Scattered severe thunderstorms on Monday. Large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes are all possible. Some wind gusts may be greater than 75 mph. I-65, I-69, I-70, I-71, I-75, I-76, I-77, I-80, I-90, I-94, IN Tollroad, OH Turnpike potentially impacted.

Much of eastern VA and eastern NC north of I-40: Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorm possible today. Damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats. I-64, I-85, I-95 potentially impacted.
