  • Heat impacts much of the Plains today; excessive heat warnings Monday across the Desert Southwest.
  • Watching the central Gulf Coast later this week for possible tropical weather development.

Pacific:

— Southeast CA deserts: Excessive Heat Warning Monday afternoon and evening. Temperatures 110-117 deg F. I-8, I-10 impacted.

Mountain:

— Southeast and south-central AZ: Excessive Heat Warning Monday afternoon and evening. Temperatures 110-114 deg F. I-8, I-10, I-17 impacted.

— Southern and western WY: Strong winds gusting to 30 mph this afternoon. I-80 impacted.

Northeast WY and adjacent southeast MT and western SD: Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms possible this afternoon and evening. Damaging winds and large hail are the main threats. I-90 potentially impacted.

Central:

Much of central and eastern SD: Severe Thunderstorm Watch through mid-morning. Ping-pong ball-sized hail and wind gusts to 85 mph possible. I-29, I-94 potentially impacted.

Central and eastern ND; central and northern MN; northwest WI: Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms possible this afternoon and evening. Damaging winds and large hail are the main threats. I-29, I-35, I-94 potentially impacted.

— Central NE: Excessive Heat Warnings this afternoon and evening. Heat index values may reach 106 deg F. I-80 impacted.

— East-central TX along the I-35 corridor: Excessive Heat Warnings through this evening. Heat index values may reach 112 deg F. I-10, I-20, I-30, I-35, I-45 impacted.

— Southeast IA; northeast MO; northern and central IL: Some severe thunderstorms possible Monday. Damaging winds will be the primary threat. I-39, I-55, I-57, I-72, I-74, I-80, I-88 potentially impacted.

Eastern:

— SC central and southern coastal regions: Flood Watch this afternoon and tonight for excessive rainfall. I-26, I-95 impacted.
