  • The first in a series of storms is impacting the west with low snow levels in the Cascades and strong winds from Montana to California to Arizona.
  • Cooler than normal and breezy in much of the East.
  • Most of the west north of I-40 from California to the Northern Plains need to be prepared for another major winter storm and high wind event this coming week.

Pacific:

— WA and northern OR Cascades above 3000 feet: Winter Weather Advisory through tonight. Total snow accumulations up to a foot. Wind gusts to. 45 mph. I-90 impacted.

— Northeast OR and adjacent WA Blue Mountains above 3000 feet: Winter Weather Advisory through Sunday evening. 6-10 inches of snow. I-84 impacted.

Northern and Central CA, Sacramento Valley, San Joaquin Valley, Sacramento Delta, Central Coastal Ranges: Wind Advisories through Sunday. Gusts 35-50 mph. I-5, I-80, CA-99 impacted.

Central CA Eastern Slopes Sierra Nevada Mono Country, adjacent west-central NV including Reno: High Wind Watch Monday. Gusts to 70 mph. I-80, US-395 impacted.

— CA Mojave Desert; southern NV; northeast and north-central AZ: southern UT: High Wind Watches (Monday) and Advisories (today). Today the winds will gust 40-45 mph. On Monday, expect gusts in excess of 55 mph. I-15, I-40, CA-58 impacted.

Mountain:

— Northwest MT Rocky Mountain Front: High Wind Warning through midday today. Gusts to 60 mph. I-15 is to the east of the warning area.

— Southeast ID: Wind Advisory through late this evening. Gusts to 50 mph. I-15, I-84, I-86 impacted.

— West-central WY Tetons and Gros Ventre Ranges: Winter Weather Advisories this evening through Sunday. 2-4 inches snow in the valleys and up to 8 inches over Teton and Togwotee Passes.

— North-central WY Big Horn Mountains: Winter Weather Advisories this evening through Sunday. Up to 8 inches snow. I-25 is to the east of the warning area.

— West-central SD greater Rapid City area: Wind Advisory mid-morning through mid-afternoon today. Gusts to 50 mph. I-90 impacted.

Central:

— No significant weather issues impacting RV travel today or Sunday.

Eastern:

Along the KY/NC Border: Winter Storm Warnings (south) and Advisories through tonight. Generally 1-3 inches snow above 3000 feet and 6-8 inches above 5000 feet. Wind gusts to 35 mph. I-26, I-40 impacted.

— Southeast GA and northeast FL: Wind Advisory this afternoon and early evening. Gusts to 40 mph. I-10, I-75, I-95 impacted.

— Coastal ME: Dense Fog Advisory through late this morning. I-95 impacted.
