  • Two storm systems will create difficult travel conditions this weekend and Monday for much of the U.S.:
    • Snow from the Great Basin and central Rockies to the Upper Midwest today.
    • Significant icing in the Upper Great Lakes today and tonight.
    • Usually high winds for Michigan and western New York tonight and Sunday.
    • Severe thunderstorms from the Mississippi Valley to the Appalachians.
    • Heavy rain with possible flooding in the Ohio Valley Sunday and Monday.

Pacific:

CA I-5 Grapevine: Winter Weather Advisory through this evening. 2-4 inches additional snow expected on Tejon Pass.

— Southeast CA deserts, northern AZ: Wind Advisories through this evening. Gusts 45-50 mph. I-8, I-15, I-17, I-40, CA-58 impacted.

Central NV: Winter Storm Warnings through early Sunday morning. 6-18 inches snow likely. US-50 highly impacted. I-80 to the north of the heaviest snowfall amounts.

Mountain:

Southeast WY, far-west and northwest NE: Winter Storm Warning today. 5-7 inches snow expected with gusts to 35 mph. I-25, I-80 impacted.

— Northeast and east-central NM: Wind Advisories today. Gusts to 50 mph. I-25, I-40 impacted.

Central:

— Central and northern OK; east-central KS: Wind Advisories today. Gusts to 50 mph. I-35, I-40, I-70 impacted. I-44 is to the south of the highest winds.

Northern WI: Ice Storm Warning today and tonight. Significant icing may bring down trees and power lines. Travel extremely hazardous. I-35, I-94 impacted.

— Central and southern IA; southern WI; northern IL: Wind Advisories tonight through Sunday morning. Gusts. 45-50 mph. Major highways impacted include I-35, I-39, I-55, I-57, I-80, I-90, I-94 and all access roads into Chicago.

IA, southwest WI; northwest IL; northern MO: Severe thunderstorms possible late this afternoon and evening. I-90 and I-70 are the northern and southern boundaries, respectively. I-35, I-80 potentially impacted.

— Far northeast TX; eastern OK; northern, central and western AR; southern MO; extreme western TN: Severe thunderstorms possible late Sunday into early Monday morning. I-30, I-40, I-55 potentially impacted.

— Eastern OK, southern MO; northern AR; southern IL; northwest TN; southern IN: Chance of flooding and flash flooding Sunday and Sunday night due to heavy rain.

Eastern:

Southern and central MI: High Wind Watch for tonight and Sunday morning. Gusts to 60 mph. I-69, I-75, I-94, I-196 impacted.

Western NY: High Wind Watch for Sunday. Gusts to 65 mph. I-81, I-90 / NY Thruway impacted.

— Northwest MS, northern AL; eastern TN; eastern KY; far-west VA; southeast OH; WV: Chance of severe thunderstorms Monday.

— Southern IN; northern KY; southern OH; western WV: Chance of flooding and flash floods Monday due to heavy rain.
