Pacific:
— Southeast OR and northwest NV: Strong winds this afternoon. Wind gusts 30-40 mph.
— Southern and much of interior Central CA; southern NV: Excessive Heat Warnings and Watches continue through Tuesday. High temperatures will range from 100-110 deg F in the San Joaquin Valley to 105-115 deg F in the Mojave and southern Deserts and 115-123 deg F in Death Valley. Excessive Heat Warnings come into effect throughout the Sacramento Valley starting Sunday. I-5, I-8, I-10, I-15, I-40, CA-58, CA-99 among the highways impacted.
— Southeast CA and far-south NV: Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms possible this afternoon and evening. Strong wind gusts and hail are the primary threats. I-10, I-15, I-40 potentially impacted.
Mountain:
— Northwest AZ and south-central UT, Grand Canyon below 4000 feet and Glen Canyon below 5000 feet: Excessive Heat Warnings through Thursday. Temperatures may reach 105 deg F in Glen Canyon and up to 115 deg F in Phantom Ranch, Grand Canyon.
— West-central AZ: Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms possible this afternoon and evening. Strong wind gusts and hail are the primary threats. I-8, I-10, I-17, I-40 potentially impacted.
— Portions of south-central AZ: Excessive Heat Warning through Tuesday. High temperatures 105-110 deg F. I-10, I-17 impacted.
— Portions of north-central NM: Flash Flood Watches through this evening. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. I-25 potentially impacted.
Central:
— Portions of southwest TX: Flash Flood Watches continue through this evening for excessive rainfall. Flooding threat greatest in the Big Bend region, including Big Bend National Park. I-10 potentially impacted.
— Southeast MO; northeast AR; southern IL; extreme southwest IN; western KY; northeast TN: Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms possible this afternoon and evening. Strong wind gusts and hail are the primary threats. I-24, I-55, I-57, I-64, I-69 potentially impacted.
— Central KY and central TN: Heavy rains and flash flooding possible, starting Sunday and continuing through Monday. Up to 1-4 inches of rain expected. If you are camping near any small streams, creeks or low-lying areas, pay close attention to the forecast, any flood warnings, and directions from your local emergency management officials. Major highways potentially impacted include I-40, I-64, I-65, I-75.
Eastern:
— Heavy rains spread into PA, NY and southern New England late Sunday night and continuing through Labor Day. Up to 1-2 inches of rain possible in some locations, creating a possibility for localized flash flooding. f you are camping near any small streams, creeks or low-lying areas, pay close attention to the forecast, any flood warnings, and directions from your local emergency management officials.
