** Heads Up ** The National Hurricane Center issued Warning #1 for Tropical Storm Colin along the South Carolina coast early Saturday morning. This system will move along the North Carolina coast today. Gusty winds and rain squalls are the main impacts.


  • Tropical Storm Colin moves along the North Carolina coast today bringing gusty winds and heavy rain squalls.
  • Severe thunderstorms are possible today along the Northeast Corridor and also the northern High Plains.
  • Strong afternoon winds today across much of the Great Basin and Inter-Mountain West.

Pacific:

— North-central and northwest WA; northern ID: Flood Watches this evening through Monday evening for excessive rainfall.

— Southern and eastern NV: Strong winds gusting 30-40 mph Saturday afternoon and again Sunday afternoon. I-15, I-80 impacted.

Mountain:

— Central and western UT, northwest AZ: Strong winds gusting 30-45 mph Saturday, Sunday, and Monday afternoon. Strongest winds Sunday and Monday afternoons. I-15, I-40, I-70, I-80, I-84 impacted.

— Western WY: Strong winds gusting 30-40 mph Sunday afternoon and early evening. I-80 impacted.

Eastern MT and northeast WY: Isolated to widely scattered severe thunderstorms today may produce damaging wind gusts and large hail. I-90, I-94 potentially impacted.

— Southern MT and northeast WY: Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms are possible Sunday, and may produce damaging wind gusts and large hail. I-15, I-25, I-90, I-94 potentially impacted.

— Portions of north-central and west-central NM: Flood Watch this afternoon and evening for excessive monsoonal rainfall. I-25 potentially impacted.

Central:

Western ND; western and central SD: Isolated to widely scattered severe thunderstorms today may produce damaging wind gusts and large hail. I-90, I-94 potentially impacted.

— Southern ND; most of SD; north-central and western NE: Isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms are possible Sunday, and may produce damaging wind gusts and large hail. I-29, I-80, I-90, I-94 potentially impacted.

— Northeast KS: Flood Watch through early this afternoon. I-29, I-35, I-70 potentially impacted.

Eastern:

Tropical Storm Warnings today for northern SC coast and all of the NC coast. Tropical Storm Colin will produce winds gusting 30-40 mph along the immediate NC coast from south to north today. Winds will decrease over Myrtle Beach and the northern SC Coast. Heavy rain squalls and localized flash flooding is also possible along the immediate NC coast. Storm surge or destructive winds are NOT issues with Colin.

Most of MA; RI; CT; southern NY including Long Island; most of NJ; eastern PA; eastern and central MD; DE; DC; northern VA: Isolated to widely scattered severe thunderstorms today may produce damaging wind gusts and large hail. Major highways in the Northeast Corridor potentially impacted including I-66, I-70, I-76, I-78, I-80, I-81, I-84, I-87, I-90, I-95, PA and NJ Turnpikes and NY Thruway.

— DC and adjacent MD and northern VA: Flood watch this afternoon and evening. Flash flooding possible from excessive rainfall. I-66, I-270, I-95 and Washington DC Beltway potentially impacted.
