  • Rain and higher elevation snows more into the West this weekend.
  • Strong winds tomorrow for New Mexico and the southern High Plains of Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas.
  • Confidence is growing in a significant severe weather outbreak Monday and Tuesday over eastern Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. RV’ers in this region should pay attention to the severe weather forecasts for early next week.

Pacific:

— WA far-northern and central Cascades above 4000 feet. Winter Weather Advisories through midday today. Total snow accumulations 6-11 inches.

— CA northern and central Sierra Nevada Mountains above 5500 feet: Winter Weather Advisories through this evening. 2-6 inches snow expected. 8 inches possible above 7500 feet. I-80, US-50 impacted.

— CA southern Sierra Nevada Mountains; southeast and southern CA deserts; coastal mountains northwest, north and northeast of Los Angeles; southern NV: High Wind Watches (CA mountains) and Advisories Sunday and Sunday night. Wind gusts generally 45-50 mph except 60-65 mph in the Mountains and Passes. I-8, I-5, I-10, I-15, I-40, US-50, US-395, CA-58 impacted.

— North-central ID: Winter Weather Advisory late this afternoon and tonight. Expect 1-3 inches snow in the valley locations and 3-6 inches in higher terrain.

— Northeast NV, south-central ID; northwest UT: Wind Advisories Sunday and Sunday evening. Wind gusts 45-50 mph. I-80, I-84, I-86 impacted.

— Northeast NV Ruby Mountains and Humboldt Range: Winter Weather Advisory tonight. Expect 4-8 inches snow and wind gusts to 45 mph.

Mountain:

— Portions of southwest and south-central MT; southeast ID along the WY border: Winter Weather Advisories Sunday and Sunday night. Accumulations generally 1-4 inches in the valleys and 4-8 inches over the passes and mountains. I-90 / Bozeman Pass and US-26 / Teton Pass impacted.

— NM: Strong wind gusts over much of the state Sunday afternoon and evening. Winds gusting 35-45 mph. Some advisories likely. I-10, I-25, I-40 impacted.

Central:

— West TX; western OK; western KS; central NE: Strong wind gusts Sunday afternoon and evening. Winds gusting 30-40 mph. Some advisories possible. I-10, I-20, I-40, I-70, I-80 impacted.

Eastern TX and western LA: Severe storms are likely to occur Monday.

Eastern:

— Northern ME: Winter Weather Advisories today and this evening. Wet snow and sleet may accumulate up to 1-3 inches. I-95 impacted.

— Southeast MA; RI; NY Long Island: Dense Fog Advisories through this afternoon. I-95 impacted.

Upstate NY south of I-90 and west of I-87; central and eastern PA; NJ: Severe thunderstorms associated with a few tornadoes, wind damage and isolated large hail will be possible today. I-76, I-80, I-81, I-83, I-84, I-88, I-95, I-99, PA and NJ Turnpikes potentially impacted.

Coastal NC; coastal SC; southeast GA: Severe thunderstorms associated with a few tornadoes, wind damage and isolated large hail will be possible this evening and early tonight. I-16, I-26, I-40, I-75, I-95 potentially impacted.
