  • Dangerous heat persists across the Deep South and builds into the central and northern Plains this weekend.
  • Strong winds will persist across the portions of the Great Basin today and Sunday.
  • Early season monsoonal thunderstorms are possible over parts of the central and southern Rockies and Southwest through the weekend.

** Heads Up ** [Status from Friday.] As of Saturday morning, ALL entrances to Yellowstone National Park remain CLOSED. It is highly possible the south loop of the Park will reopen sometime next week under a reservations / timed entry system. The northern portion of the Park is closed until further notice. If you are planning to visit Yellowstone in the near future, check their website for latest conditions. You can also text “82190” to 888-777 and receive their latest road status and updates.

— North-central WA: Flood Watch this afternoon and tonight due to excessive rainfall.

— Central CA eastern slopes of the Sierras and Owens Valley: Wind Advisory this afternoon through late this evening. Gusts to 50 mph. US-395 impacted.

Southern and east-central NV: Wind Advisories continue through this evening. Gusts 50-55 mph. I-15, US-50 impacted.


Portions of southwest MT; eastern and southeastern ID: Wind Advisories late this morning through this evening. Gusts 40-55 mph. I-15, I-90 impacted.

Western, southern and central UT; northwest AZ: High Wind Warnings and Advisories through this evening. Gusts 50-60 mph. I-15, I-40, I-70, I-80, I-84 impacted.


— Eastern ND and adjacent northwest MN: Excessive Heat Warning and Wind Advisory this afternoon: Heat index values as high as 107 deg F and wind gusts to 45 mph. I-29, I-94 impacted.


— No significant impacts to RV travel today or Sunday.
