**Heads Up ** If you are traveling I-25 between Denver and Santa Fe, be prepared for very strong winds, especially this morning. Some wind gusts will be well in excess of Hurricane Force.


  • Very strong winds continue across portions of the Four Corners region into the southern High Plains and especially in New Mexico. Strongest winds will be along and to the west of I-25 in southern CO this morning.
  • A few strong to severe thunderstorms and locally heavy rain are possible across the Upper Mississippi Valley and Upper Midwest.
  • Persistent strong winds continue along the Atlantic Coast from Cape Cod to Cape Hatteras today and Tuesday.

Pacific:

— East-central and southeast OR: Winter Weather Advisory through midday today. Snow accumulations 1-3 inches except 3-5 inches in the mountains. Advisory area just south of I-84.

— Southern CA north of CA-58, eastern Mojave Desert: Wind Advisory through midmorning. Gusts to 55 mph.

Southern CA Mountains from CA-58 to the Mexican Border: Wind Advisories this afternoon and evening. Gusts to 60 mph, except gusts to 70 mph in favored locations. I-5, I-8, I-10, I-15 impacted.

Mountain:

Portions of eastern UT, central and western CO: Wind Advisories through midmorning. Gusts to 70 mph. I-70 impacted.

Northern, northeast, central and east-central AZ: Wind Advisory through this evening. Gusts to 50 mph. I-17, I-40 impacted.

— South-central CO; much of NM except the southwest and southeast corners of the state: High Wind Warnings and Advisories through today. Gusts generally 55-60 mph, except along the Rocky Mountains in southern CO where gusts could reach 90 mph this morning. I-25 highly impacted. I-40 also impacted.

Southeast and east-central WY; far-western NE: High Wind Warnings through this evening. Gusts to 65 mph. I-25, I-80 impacted.

Central:

Southern and eastern ND; SD; western MN; northern IA: Wind Advisories through this evening. Gusts 45-55 mph. I-29, I-35, I-90, I-94 impacted.

MN, central and western WI; central and eastern IA: Slight risk of severe thunderstorms today and this evening. Large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes all possible. I-35, I-90, I-94 potentially impacted.

— Western TX east of the I-10/I-20 split and west of I-35: A few severe storms may evolve late in the day Tuesday, accompanied by hail and high wind risk. I-10, I-20, I-27, I-40 potentially impacted.

Eastern:

— Central and western MI Upper Peninsula: Wind Advisories through midnight tonight. Gusts to 50 mph. US-2, US-41 impacted.

— East Coast immediate coastline between Cape Cod MA and Cape Hatteras: Strong winds continue today and tomorrow with gusts along the coast of 30-35 mph. The rain has moved off the coast.
