  • Numerous severe thunderstorms are forecast across parts of the Northern Plains and Upper Mississippi Valley, southward into the central Plains today into tonight.
  • Strong winds continue today across the Four Corners region eastward to the Southern Plains.
  • Significant snowfall in the northern Rockies above 8000 feet today.
  • Very warm temperatures spread into the Midwest and Northeast today and Tuesday.

Pacific:

— Northeast NV above 6500 feet: Winter Weather Advisory through midday today. Total accumulations of 5-10 inches of snow and gusts to 45 mph.

— Northern and central CA Sacramento and northern San Joaquin valleys: Wind gusts 30-35 mph this afternoon and again Tuesday afternoon. Advisories not likely. I-5, I-80, CA-99 impacted.

Southern CA Mojave Desert Slopes: Wind Advisory this afternoon through tonight. Gusts to 55 mph. CA-58 impacted.

Mountain:

— Central ID above 7000 feet: Winter Weather Advisories today. Total accumulations of 5-10 inches of wet snow expected.

Northwest WY, south-central MT: Winter Storm Warnings through midday Tuesday. Up to 1-3 feet of snow likely in the Absaroka, Beartooth and Big Horn Mountains. Wind gusts 25-40 mph.

Northwest WY Yellowstone and Grand Teton Parks above 8000 feet: Winter Weather Advisory through this afternoon. Total accumulation 6-10 inches snow. Heaviest snow will fall this morning. Both Teton and Togwotee passes impacted.

Northeast UT: Winter Weather Advisories today above 7500 feet in the Wasatch and Unita Mountains. Up to 6 inches additional accumulation. I-80 impacted.

West-central AZ; southern and southeast CO; central and northern NM: A combination of Wind Advisories and Red Flag Warnings from midday today through this evening. Wind gusts 45-55 mph. I-25, I-40 impacted.

Central:

Western KS: Wind gusts this afternoon 45-55 mph. Advisories possible. I-70 impacted.

— Western ND; northwest and west-central SD: Wind Advisories this afternoon through midday Tuesday. Gusts 45-50 mph. I-90, I-94 impacted.

Eastern ND; northern MN: Flood Watch through Tuesday morning due to excessive rainfall. I-29, I-35, I-94 potentially impacted.

— Northern MN; northern WI: Wind gusts 30-45 mph Tuesday afternoon. I-35, I-94 impacted.

Parts of eastern ND, northern MN: Severe Thunderstorm Watch through midmorning. Up to 2 inch hail and wind gusts to 70 mph possible. I-29, I-94 potentially impacted.

— Parts of southeast MN and adjacent SD; northwest IA: Severe Thunderstorm Watch through early this morning. Up to 2 inch hail and wind gusts to 75 mph. A couple of tornadoes are possible. I-29, I-90, I-94 potentially impacted.

Eastern ND; central and eastern SD; MN; northwest WI; north-central and eastern NE; much of IA; northwest MO; central and northeast KS: Numerous severe thunderstorms are forecast on Monday and Monday night. Large to giant hail, 60-80 mph gusts, and several tornadoes are probable, including the possibility for a couple of intense long-track tornadoes. Greatest risk is along the I-29 corridor between I-90 and I-94, and northwest MN north of I-94. I-29, I-35, I-70, I-80, I-90, I-94 potentially impacted.

Southern and southeast WI; southeast IA; northwest IL; northern and western MO; eastern and southeast KS; northern and central OK; TX Panhandle: Scattered severe thunderstorms likely Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night. There is a risk for large to very large hail, severe gusts 60-80 mph, and a couple of tornadoes. I-27, I-29, I-35, I-39, I-40, I-43, I-44, I-70, I-80, I-90 potentially impacted.

— Southern MN; central and western IA; eastern NE; central and eastern KS and adjacent MO; northeast OK: Wind Advisories late this morning through this evening. Wind gusts 45-50 mph. I-29, I-35, I-44, I-70, I-80, I-90 impacted.

Eastern:

— MI Upper Peninsula: Wind gusts 30-45 mph Tuesday afternoon.
