  • Snow today in much of the Northeast.
  • Major winter storm will impact much of the U.S. this week:
    • High winds today over parts of California, Nevada and Arizona.
    • Snow across the Southwest today and Tuesday, then spreading across the Central Plains, Midwest and into the Northeast by mid-week.
    • Significant severe weather threat for eastern Texas and the Gulf Coast Tuesday and Tuesday night.

Pacific:

— North-central CA Sacramento Valley and the Delta region: Wind Advisory through this afternoon. Gusts to 40 mph. I-5, I-80 impacted.

CA Sierra Nevada mountains: High Wind Warnings (south) and Advisories through early afternoon. Gusts 40-55 mph in the northern Sierras and gusts to 75 mph in the southern Sierras. I-80, US-50 impacted.

Central and southern NV; much of east-central and southeast CA; western AZ and extreme southwest UT: Wind Advisories through late this afternoon. Gusts to 50 mph. I-8, I-10, I-15, I-40, US-6, US-50, US-93, US-95, CA-58 impacted.

Southern CA coastal and mountain regions from Santa Barbara south to the I-10 corridor: High Wind Warnings and Advisories through this afternoon. Gusts 45-70 mph. I-5, I-10, I-15, US-101 impacted.

Mountain:

North-central UT: Wind Advisories through late this morning. Gusts 45-55 mph. I-15, I-80, I-84 impacted.

Extreme southwest UT; western AZ: High Wind Warnings (UT) and Advisories through late this afternoon. Gusts 40-60 mph (highest in UT). I-8, I-10, I-15, I-40 impacted.

Portions of southern UT; north-central AZ and the higher elevations of central and east-central AZ; southwest CO: Winter Weather Advisories continue through early this evening. Accumulations will range from 3 inches in UT and AZ below 5000 feet to 4-8 inches in the higher terrain of AZ and 5-10 inches in CO. Wind gusts to 45 mph. I-15, I-17, I-40 impacted.

Portions of southwest NM: Winter Weather Advisories this afternoon and tonight. 2-6 inches snow and wind gusts to 40 mph. I-25 impacted. I-10 will be OK.

Central NM including the greater Albuquerque area: High Wind Warnings through early tonight. Gusts to 60 mph. I-25, I-40 impacted.

Central, east-central and southeast NM: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories this evening through Tuesday. Snow accumulations generally 3-6 inches. Wind gusts to 35 mph. I-25, I-40 impacted. I-10 will be OK.

Central:

— Central and southwest IA; portions of southeast NE; north-central and northwest KS: Dense Fog Advisories this morning. I-35, I-70, I-80 impacted.

Northwest TX including much of the Panhandle; central OK: Winter Storm Warnings (southwest TX Panhandle) and Advisories tonight through Tuesday night. Snow accumulations generally 1-4 inches except 4-6 inches over the southern TX Panhandle. I-27, I-40, I-44 impacted. I-20 just south of the warned region.

Parts of western TX: Wind Advisories today and tonight. Gusts to 50 mph. I-10, I-20 impacted.

Central and eastern OK; northwest AR; southwest, south-central and east-central MO; much of southern IL: Winter Storm Watches Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday. Potential snow accumulations between 4-7 inches. I-35, I-40, I-44, I-55, I-57, I-64, I-70, I-72, I-74 potentially impacted.

TX coast north of Corpus Christi; southern LA; southern MS; southern AL; western FL Panhandle: Severe thunderstorms possible along the TX coast Tuesday afternoon, then spread across southern LA, MS, AL Tuesday night. Damaging winds gusts and tornadoes are possible. Some tornadoes may be strong. These night-time tornado situations are dangerous – make sure you have a way to get tornado warnings in the middle of the night and have your evacuation plan from your RV already thought out. I-10, I-12, I-20, I-45, I-49, I-55, I-59, I-65 potentially impacted.

— Eastern TX; most of LA; southwest MS: Slight risk of flash floods Tuesday and Tuesday night from heavy rains. I-10, I-20, I-45, I-49 potentially impacted.

Eastern:

Central and northeast IN; west-central and northwest OH, and adjacent south-central MI: Winter Storm Watches late Tuesday night through Wednesday evening. 5-8 inches snow possible. I-65, I-69, I-700, I-74, I-75, I-80 / OH Turnpike / IN Toll Road potentially impacted.

North-central and northeast PA; NY Southern Tier, Catskill and southern Adirondack mountains; northern CT; MA except southeast part of state; VT except far northern portion of state; NH; central and southern ME: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories through late this evening. Additional accumulations will range from an inch or two in PA to 5-7 inches in interior New England. I-80, I-81, I-84, I-86, I-87, I-88, I-89, I-90, I-91, I-93, I-95, NY Thruway, Mass Pike, PA Turnpike (northeast extension) impacted.

Southwest PA; far-western MD; eastern WV; extreme southwest VA; the western NC and eastern TN border: Winter Weather Advisories today. Additional snow amounts mostly 1-4 inches. Higher in the high elevations of TN/NC. I-26, I-40, I-64, I-68, I-70/76, I-77, I-81, PA Turnpike impacted.

Portions of far-western NC: Wind Advisory through this evening. Gusts 40-50 mph. I-40 impacted.

— Southeast VA; eastern and central NC; SC; GA south and east of I-85; southeast AL; northern FL: Strong thunderstorms on Wednesday may turn severe, with the possibility of damaging wind gusts and tornadoes. I-10, I-16, I-20, I-26, I-40, I-64, I-75, I-77, I-85, I-95 potentially impacted.
