Travel & RV Weather Forecast Monday 22 August


  • A multi-day heavy rainfall event is in progress over parts of the southern Plains that will produce areas of flash flooding.
  • Heavy rain will progress relatively slowly east toward the lower Mississippi Valley over the next couple of days.

Pacific:

No significant weather impacts to RV travel today or Tuesday.

Mountain:

— Portions of north-central and south-central NM: Flood Watches today from monsoon storms. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Low-water crossings may be flooded. I-25 potentially impacted.

Central:

Multiple locations within northeast TX: Flash Flood Warnings and Advisories ongoing this morning. As much as 8 inches of rain have fallen overnight, especially just east and southeast of Dallas. If you are in a flash flood warning or advisory, move to higher ground immediately. Do not drive or tow through or across flooded roads. Follow the directions of your local emergency management officials. I-20, I-30, I-45 impacted.

— Southern OK; north-central, northeast and central TX; southern AR; northern and central LA; west-central MS: Flood Watches through Tuesday for excessive rainfall. Rainfall and flooding potential greatest over northern LA and adjacent TX. I-10, I-20, I-30, I-35, I-44, I-45, I-49, I-55 potentially impacted.

Eastern:

— Northeast WV and parts of northwest VA: Dense Fog Advisories this morning. I-64, I-81 impacted.
