  • Flash Flood potential today and Tuesday for parts of northern California.
  • Strong thunderstorms for much of the Northeast today. Heavy rains and flash flood potential for northwest New England and adjacent eastern New York.
  • Hurricane Fiona is near the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean and is strengthening. This storm does not pose any direct threat to the U.S. Mainland.

Pacific:

— Northern CA: Flood Advisory for portions of Tehema, Glenn and Shasta Counties through midday today. This area is just west of I-5. 2-4 inches of rain have already fallen and more is expected today.

— CA central Sierra Nevada Mountains: Flood Watch through Tuesday evening. Be especially alert if you are near or downstream of any burn scars. I-80 potentially impacted.

— CA central Sierra Nevada Mountains; southern, central and eastern NV: Strong winds this afternoon. Gusts 30-40 mph. I-15, I-80, US-50, US-395 impacted.

Mountain:

— Southwest and northeast UT; southern and western WY; southern MT: Strong winds this afternoon and evening. Gusts to 35 mph, except over 40 mph in mountain passes. I-15, I-80 impacted.

— South-central NM: Flood Watch this afternoon and evening.

— Central and south-central NE; adjacent CO: Dense Fog Advisories this morning. I-80 impacted.

Central:

— Central and south-central NE; adjacent CO: Dense Fog Advisories this morning. I-80 impacted.

— Central and southern WI: Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms Tuesday may bring damaging winds gusts and hail. I-39, I-43, I-90, I-94 potentially impacted.

Eastern:

— Central and southern MI Lower Peninsula: Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms Tuesday may bring damaging winds gusts and hail. I-69, I-75, I-94, I-96 potentially impacted.

Eastern OH; PA; northern NJ; NY; VT; western MA; CT: Strong to marginally severe thunderstorms today. Strong wind gusts are the primary threats. I-70, I-77, I-79, I-80, I-81, I-83, I-84, I-87, I-88, I-89, I-90, I-91, I-95, I-99 NY Thruway, PA, NJ and Mass Turnpikes potentially impacted.

Eastern NY; VT; NH; northwest MA: Flash Flood Risk today and tonight. 2-4 inches of rain possible. I-87, I-91, I-93 potentially impacted.
