  • Late season Pacific storms bring extensive rain and high elevation snow to the Pacific Northwest, and strong winds over northeast California and into the Great Basin.
  • Severe thunderstorms are forecast today over the Southeast with a tornado and damaging wind threat focused over southern Alabama into western Georgia.
  • One to three inches of rain may bring some flooding over the central Appalachians today.
  • Record heat is forecast to build over the South this weekend into the middle of next week.

Pacific:

— South-central and southern OR Cascades above 5000 feet: Winter Weather Advisories this evening through midday Saturday. 4-8 inches snow likely. Winds gusting to 45 mph.

South-central OR; northeast CA; CA northern and central Sierra Nevada and eastern slopes; northern , northwest, west-central and central NV: High Wind Warnings and Advisories continue through tonight. Gusts 55-65 mph. Gusts up to 80-100 mph on Sierra Nevada ridge lines. I-80, US-50, US-395 impacted.

Southeast CA; southern NV; west-central and northwest AZ: Wind Advisories Saturday and Saturday night. Gusts to 55 mph. I-15, I-40, CA-58 impacted.

— Interior far-southern CA, including the Salton Sea, Imperial County and Imperial Valley: Wind Advisories Saturday and Saturday night. Gusts to 45 mph. I-8, I-10 impacted.

Mountain:

Northwest and north-central MT: High Wind Warnings today. Gusts to 65 mph except gusts to 75 mph along the Rocky Mountain Front. I-15 impacted.

Southeast WY: High Wind Warning through this evening. Gusts to 65 mph. I-25, I-80 impacted.

— Northern and Central AZ: Expect wind gusts to 50 mph Saturday midday through Saturday evening. I-17, I-40 impacted.

— Most of NM: Expect wind gusts 40-45 mph Saturday midday through Saturday evening. Expect wind gusts 45-55 mph Sunday midday through Sunday evening. I-25, I-40 impacted.

Central:

— Far southwest TX: Expect wind gusts to 40 mph Saturday midday through Saturday evening. I-10, I-20 impacted.

— Northeast ND; northwest MN: Flood Warnings continue for river flooding through Saturday morning. Some roads closed due to flooding. I-29 potentially impacted.

— Southwest MO: Flood Warnings continue through today. I-44 potentially impacted.

— Parts of eastern TX: Dense Fog Advisories through mid-morning. I-10, I-20, I-30, I-35, I-45 impacted.

— Central and eastern OK; southeast KS; southwest MO; northwest AR: Flood Warnings, Advisories and Watches through this evening. I-35, I-40, I-44 potentially impacted.

Southeast LA; southeast MS; AL; FL Panhandle: Scattered severe thunderstorms expected today. Damaging winds, hail, and a few tornadoes will be possible. Primary threat expected between late morning and early evening. I-10, I-12, I-20, I-59, I-65, I-85 potentially impacted.

Eastern:

Central and south-central PA; western and central MD; far-eastern WV; northern VA; DC: Flood Watches in effect through Saturday afternoon. Up to 3.5 inches rain expected over the region. I-66, I-68, I-70, I-76 / PA Turnpike, I-80, I-81, I-95 potentially impacted.

Eastern KY; southern WV; central and southern VA; eastern TN; NC; SC; GA; northern FL: Scattered severe thunderstorms expected today. Damaging winds, hail, and a few tornadoes will be possible. Primary threat expected between late morning and early evening. Major highways potentially impacted include I-10, I-16, I-20, I-26, I-40, I-65, I-75, I-77, I-85, I-95.
