Travel & RV Weather Forecast Friday 29 July


  • Flooding continues over parts of southeast Kentucky.
  • Heavy monsoon rains and localized flash flooding will extend from the Southwest and Four Corners region to the Panhandles of Oklahoma and Texas the next couple of days.
  • Heat wave impacts the Northwestern U.S.through this weekend.

Pacific:

— WA and northern OR east of the Cascades; southwest OR and interior northern CA; the greater Portland and Seattle regions; northern ID: Excessive Heat Warnings through Sunday. High temperatures will range from the upper 90’s in the Portland and Seattle metro areas to 100-110 deg F over eastern WA, southwest OR and northern CA. I-5, I-82, I-84, I-90 impacted.

Mountain:

— Central, southern and southeast UT; AZ except southwest portion of state; southwest and southeast CO; most of central and northern NM: Flood and Flash Flood Watches through Saturday morning for slow-moving monsoonal thunderstorms. Be very careful near normally dry washes, slot canyons and low-water crossings. I-8, I-10, I-15, I-17, I-25, I-40, I-70 potentially impacted.

Central:

— Southeast and south-central KS; OK Panhandle; northern TX Panhandle: Flood Watch through Saturday morning for excessive rainfall from multiple rounds of heavy thunderstorms. I-40 is to the south and I-70 to the north of this region.

Eastern:

Portions of southeast KY: Flood Warnings continue through this morning. Please do not cross flooded roads. Move to higher ground and evacuate if directed by local emergency management officials. The flood warnings are south of I-64, east of I-75 and north of I-81.

— South-central and eastern KY; central and southern WV; far southwest VA; northeast TN: Flood Watches continue through this evening for excessive rain from multiple rounds of heavy showers and thunderstorms. I-26, I-64, I-65, I-75, I-77, I-79, I-81 potentially impacted.

Northern and eastern VA; DE; eastern MD: Slight risk of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Damaging wind gusts are the main threat. I-64, I-66, I-85, I-95 potentially impacted.
