  • Blizzard and dangerous winter conditions continue for the Upper Midwest today with a combination of snow, blowing snow, strong winds and very cold temperatures.
  • Tennessee Valley snowstorm moves into West Virginia and Virginia Thursday afternoon and night.
  • Yet more rain, snow and high winds for the Pacific Northwest, Inter-mountain West and Northern Rockies.
  • Arctic air and extreme wind chill temperatures over the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest through Friday morning.

Here’s the long-range travel & RV weather outlook (next update this evening)

— Coastal WA Olympic Peninsula and Puget Sound: Winter Weather Advisories though late tonight. Up to 3 inches accumulation. I-5, I-90, US-101 impacted.

— Southwest WA and northwest OR: Flood Watch through Friday for continued heavy rain. I-5 potentially impacted.

— All of WA from the Cascades and eastward; western and central MT; OR Cascades, central and northeast OR; almost all ID: Winter Storm Warnings, Watches and Advisories through Thursday in most parts. Snow will be measured in feet in the mountains and inches in the valleys. Winds in general gusting 35-50 mph over this region. I-5 (CA), I-15, I-80, I-84, I-90, I-94 all impacted.

— South-central CA, portions of Mojave Desert, mountains north and northwest of Los Angeles: Wind Advisory through this afternoon. Gusts 45-50 mph. I-5, US-101, CA-58 impacted.

— Portions of northeast NV: Wind Advisory through this afternoon. Gusts to 50 mph. I-80 impacted.

— North-central and western WY; northeast and central UT: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories through Thursday night. Snow will be measured in feet in the mountains, accompanied by high winds. I-15, I-70, I-80 impacted.

— Portions of southwest WY, adjacent northwest CO: High Wind Warnings and Advisories through late this afternoon. Gusts 50-65 mph. I-80 impacted.

— East-central and southeast WY; central and north-central CO: Winter Storm Warnings through Thursday. Snow accumulations generally 6-12 inches with higher amounts in high terrain. Strong to high winds. I-25, I-70, I-80 impacted.

— North-central and central NM: Wind Advisories late this morning through late this evening. Gusts to 50 mph. I-25, I-40 impacted.

— Western, central and south-central NE; most of northern KS: Winter Storm Warnings (NE) and Advisories through Thursday morning. Accumulations range from 3-7 inches north and west to 2-4 inches south and east. Strong to high winds. I-35, I-70, I-76, I-80 impacted.

— Eastern ND; for northeast SD; MN; WI; eastern IA; northern and western MI; northern IL: Blizzard Warnings (ND/MN border), Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories through this evening. Strong to high winds. Snow accumulations range from a few inches in the western portions of the warned area to nearly a foot downwind of Lakes Superior and Michigan. Major highways impacted include I-35, I-74, I-75, I-80, I-88, I-90, I-94.

— Southeast SD, northwest, central and south-central IA: Wind Advisories though midday today. I-29, I-35, I-80 impacted.

— Central and east-central IL; central and northern IN; southeast MI; western and northern OH: Wind Advisories through this evening. Gusts to 45 mph. Major highways impacted include I-57, I-65, I-69, I-70, I-71, I-75, I-80/90/OH Turnpike / IN Toll Road, I-94.

— East-central TN: Freezing Fog Advisory through midmorning. I-40 impacted.

— Northern FL Peninsula: Dense Fog Advisory through midmorning. I-10, I-75 impacted.

— Eastern KY; most of WV and far-western VA; TN/NC border: Winter Storm Watches Thursday afternoon through Friday morning. 4-6 inches snow possible. I-40, I-64, I-75, I-77, I-79, I-81 impacted.

— Western NY downwind of Lakes Erie and Ontario: Lake Effect Snow Warnings from midnight tonight through late Thursday tight. 7-15 inches and wind gusts to 45 mph. I-81, I-90 / NY Thruway impacted.

— Southeastern ME; central and southern NH; most of MA; northern RI; most of CT; southern NY including Long Island; NJ; far-eastern PA; DE; eastern MD; portions of eastern VA: Winter Weather Advisories through midday today for light freezing rain and freezing drizzle. Untreated roads will become very slippery. All major highways, including I-95, in the East Coast Corridor, if untreated, will be impacted.

—Western and Northern VA; eastern MD: Expect 2-4 inches snow late Thursday night into Friday morning. I-64, I-81, I-95. Expect Advisories will be issued later today or Thursday.
