  • Confidence is increasing on a winter storm along the East Coast, particularly New England, Friday night through Sunday. Details and update in this afternoon’s Extended Outlook.
  • Today, expect:
    • Below normal temperatures for the Eastern half of the U.S.;
    • Santa Ana winds continue through midday over parts of Southern California;
    • Snow in the southern Rockies and High Plains; and
    • Showers and isolated thunderstorms over Florida.

Here’s the long-range travel & RV weather outlook (to be updated this afternoon)

— Western WA and OR; portions of south-central and north-central OR; central WA and northeast OR; southeast and east-central ID: Dense Fog, Freezing Fog and Air Stagnation Advisories continue over the region. I-5, I-15, I-84, I-90 impacted.

— Southern CA Ventura County, Santa Clarita Valley and San Fernando Valley: Wind Advisories through midday today. Gusts 45 – 50 mph. Major highways impacted include I-5, I-10, US-101.

— South-central MT Livingston Area and Beartooth Foothills: Wind Advisory this evening through midday today. Gusts to 60 mph. I-90 impacted.

— Southeast WY: High Wind Warnings through late this afternoon. Gusts to 65-70 mph. I-25, I-80 impacted.

— Southeast WY: Winter Weather Advisory through late this afternoon for blowing snow along I-80. Wind gusts 40-50 mph. Wind chill temperatures as low as -20 deg F. I-80 impacted between mile markers 320 – 345.

— Northeast and central NM: Winter Storm Warnings (northeast Albuquerque NM) and Advisories late through late this morning Wednesday. Total accumulations 2-5 inches except 3-7 inches north and east of Albuquerque. I-25, I-40 impacted.

— West-central and southwest ND; northwest SD: Wind Advisory from late this morning through this evening. Gusts to 50 mph. I-94 impacted.

— East-central CO, extreme southwest NE, northwest KS: Dense Fog Advisory through midmorning. I-70 impacted.

— Extreme western OK Panhandle; far-west TX including TX Panhandle; adjacent southeast NM; west-central OK: Winter Weather Advisories today. Snow accumulations generally 1-3 inches. I-10/I-20 split, I-27, I-40 impacted.

— Northeast ND and northwest MN: Winter Weather Advisory through midmorning for blowing snow. Gusts to 45 mph. I-29 impacted.

— Northeast SD: Wind Advisory through this afternoon. Gusts to 50 mph. I-29 impacted.

— Central and southern MN, north-central and northwest IA: Wind Chill Warnings through mid-morning. Wind Chill Temperatures as low as -40 deg F. I-35, I-90, I-94 impacted.

— Southwest and west-central MI shoreline of Lake Michigan: Winter Weather Advisories through late this morning. Additional accumulations of 1-2 inches possible. Major highways impacted include I-196, US-31.

— Extreme northeast OH, northwest PA and far-western NY along the Lake Erie Shoreline: Winter Storm Warnings (PA) and Advisories for lake effect snow through early. this afternoon. Additional accumulations of 1-3 inches possible. I-79, I-90 / NY Thruway impacted.

— Most of MI, OH, WV, western MD, western and central PA, NY: Light snow overspreading the region from west to east Thursday and Thursday night. Currently no advisories but expect some to be posted later today or tonight.

— FL Peninsula: Rain showers and isolated thunderstorms today. Clearing this afternoon over the central and northern portions of the Peninsula. No advisories expected.
