- A major winter storm is brings disruptive snow and ice accumulations from the Rockies, to the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes, to New York and New England through Friday.
- Winter storm warnings and watches extend from New Mexico to Maine.
- Portions of the Ohio River Valley could see a major ice storm.
- Much of Texas will see snow, sleet and freezing rain
- Bitterly cold temperatures will follow the wintry precipitation.
- Flooding possible Thursday over parts of the Tennessee Valley and Alabama.
- Strong winds today and tonight over large portions of Central and Southern California.
- Parts of low elevation Arizona will see temperatures much below freezing tonight.

— Southeast WA, northeast OR and northern ID: Winter Weather Advisory this afternoon through Thursday morning. 2-3 inches snow expected except 5-8 inches over the Blue Mountains. I-84, I-90 impacted.
— Central CA Sacramento Valley and northern San Joaquin Valley, San Francisco Bay area and Santa Cruz Mountains: Wind Advisories through this evening. Wind gusts around 40 mph. Major highways impacted include I-5, I-80, US-101 and many of the approach roads to the Bay Area.
— Central CA west slopes northern Sierra Nevada Mountains: Wind Advisory through this evening. Gusts 35-40 mph. I-80 impacted.
— Southern CA Los Angeles County and Santa Ana Mountains, San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange Counties; the Inland Empire: High Wind Warnings (LA County) and Advisories this evening through midday Thursday. Gusts 55-60 mph, except gusts 60-70 mph in the Mountains. I-5, I-10, I-15 impacted.
— Southeast CA deserts; southwest AZ; southern and southeast. NV: Wind and Blowing Dust Advisories through this evening. Gusts 50-55 mph. I-8, I-10, I-15, I-40 impacted.
— West-central AZ and adjacent NV: Hard Freeze Warning tonight. Low temperatures in the low 20’s.
— South-central AZ Tucson area: Hard Freeze Warning tonight for lows in the mid to upper 20’s.
— Southeast WY; southwest NE; eastern and central CO; western KS; central and eastern NM; far-west TX: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories through Thursday morning. Additional accumulations of a few inches in the northern and eastern portions of this region to 4-8 inches over NM, and up 14 inches in the NM Mountains. I-25, I-40, I-70, I-76, I-80 all impacted.
— Northwest, central and eastern ND; adjacent SD and MN: Wind Chill Warnings tonight and Thursday morning. Wind Chills as low as -50 deg F. I-29, I-94 impacted.
— Southern KS, OK, MO, AR, IL, IN: Winter Storm Warnings through Thursday night. Snow, sleet and freezing rain. Many places will see accumulations from 4-10 inches. All roads in this region will be highly impacted.
— Most of TX except Big Bend region, far-south and southeast parts of the state: Winter Storm Warnings (central and northeast TX) and Advisories this afternoon through Thursday. Most parts of the state will see a mixture of sleet, freezing rain, and up to 2-4 inches of snow. I-10, I-17, I-20, I-30, I-35, I-40, I-45 all impacted.
— Southeast TX: Dense Fog Advisory this morning. I-10, I-45 impacted.
— Southeast LA, southern MS, southwest AL and extreme western FL Peninsula: On Thursday, isolated strong to severe thunderstorms, capable of damaging wind gusts, a couple of tornadoes, and hail are possible.
— Extreme northwest MS; counties along the AR/TN border; northwest TN; extreme southern IL; central and western KY; southern IN: Ice Storm Warnings tonight through Thursday. Up to 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ice, wind and several inches of snow will bring trees and power lines down and make most highways impassible. I-24, I-40, I-55, I-64, I-65, I-75 impacted.
— Eastern KY; central and eastern TN; northern GA; northern and central AL: Flood Watches through Thursday evening. If you are camping or driving in this area, particularly at night, be aware of rising water from creeks, stream, ponds and small rivers – and move to higher ground. Do not drive across flooded roads.
— Southern MI, western, central and northern OH, far-western and northwest PA; western and northern NY; most of VT: Winter Storm Warnings through Friday morning for heavy snow. 8-12 inches expected over much of this area. Heaviest snow on Thursday over the western portions of this region, and Thursday night and Friday over NY and VT.
— Central and Eastern NY around the Capital District; MA; southern VT; NH; ME: Winter Storm Watches Thursday and Friday for significant accumulations of snow and sleet.
