  • Freezing rain and sleet today from north Texas through the Mid-Mississippi Valley will shift to the eastern Ohio Valley through the central Appalachians.
  • Ice accumulations greatest over:
    • Northeast Arkansas and southern Missouri today; and
    • South-central Pennsylvania tonight.
  • Heavy snow expected for the Northeast tonight and Friday.

Here’s the long-range travel & RV weather outlook

— Southwest and western CO Mountains: Winter Storm Warnings continue through midday today. I-3 inches additional accumulation and wind gusts to 40 mph. I-70 impacted.

— Central NM east and northeast of Albuquerque: Wind Advisory from late this morning through this evening. Gusts to 45 mph. I-25, I-40 impacted.

— Much of central and northeast TX: Winter Storm Warnings (northeast) and Advisories today for freezing rain. Accumulations range from a light glaze in southern regions to one-tenth of an Inch of ice in the northeast. I-10, I-30, I-30, I-35, I-45 impacted.

Southern, central and eastern OK; extreme southeast KS; most of AR; southern, central and eastern MO; southern IL; western and northern KY; extreme northwest TN: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories today and tonight for sleet and freezing rain. Ice accumulations will range from one-tenth of an inch in OK to one-half inch over northern MO, southern AR and western KY. Untreated roads will become dangerous for travel. 1/2 inch ice is enough to bring down tree branches and power lines. Major highways impacted include I-40, I-44, I-55, I-70.

— Central and eastern IA; southern WI; most of IL and IN; northern and central OH: Winter Weather Advisories today and tonight. Snow accumulations generally 1-4 inches. Some sleet and freezing rain will likely mix in. Major highways impacted include I-55, I-57, I-65, I-69, I-70, I-75, I-80, I-90, the OH Turnpike and IN Toll Road.

— Western and northern TN; southern KY; most of WV: Flood Watches through Friday morning for heavy rain.

— Southern LA; southern, central and southeast MS; much of AL; western FL; portions of southwest, central and northeast GA; northeastern SC; southern and southeast NC: Dense Fog Advisories through late this morning. Major highways impacted include I-10, I-12, I-20, I-55, I-59, I-65, I-69, I-75, I-77, I-85, I-95.

Portions of southwest and south-central PA; extreme western MD: Ice Storm Warning tonight and Friday morning. Total sleet and freezing rain accumulations may reach one inch and up to one-half inch of ice on untreated surfaces, trees and power lines, making travel dangerous. I-68, I-70 / I-76 / PA Turnpike, I-80, I-99 impacted.

— Most of PA except southwest portion of state; MD except for Eastern Shore; northwest VA west of I-95; northern NJ; southern NY; southern CT: Winter Weather Advisories tonight and Friday: A combination of snow, sleet and freezing rain with total accumulations up to 3 inches. Major highways impacted include I-70, I-76, I-79, I-80, I-81, I-84, I-87, I-95, PA and NJ Turnpikes, NY Thruway.

NY except far southern portion of state; VT; NH; southern ME; MA; northern CT; RI: Winter Storm Warnings and Watches late tonight through Friday. Up to 6-12 inches of snow expected over much of the region. Major highways impacted include I-87, I-89, I-90, I-91, I-93, I-95, NY Thruway, Mass Pike.
