  • Heavy rain with some potential for flash flooding in the Mid-South today.
  • Possibility of a severe thunderstorm or two over the central Gulf Coast States today.
  • Arctic wind chills continue today over the Upper-Midwest. Cold air moves into the Northeast early this week.
  • Narrow but intense snow squall bands form over parts of New York and Pennsylvania Monday afternoon, creating suddenly hazardous driving conditions.

— Southern CA Santa Monica Mountains and Santa Clarita Valley: Wind Advisory through this afternoon. Gusts 35-45 mph. I-5 impacted.

— Eastern MT, ND, northern and central MN, northern WI: Wind Chill Warnings (ND) and Advisories through midday. Wind chill temperatures -35 to -45 deg F. I-29, I-35, I-94 impacted.

— Southern TX Gulf Coast: Dense Fog Advisory through midday today.

— MI Eastern Upper Peninsula: Winter Storm Warning through Monday evening. 6-12 inches snow and wind gusts 30-40 mph. I-75 impacted.

— Eastern AR, TN, KY, northern AL, southern WV: Expect heavy rains and thunderstorms today and tonight. Localized flash flooding possible. I-40, I-64, I-65, I-69, I-75 potentially impacted.

— Most of LA, southern and central MS, southern and central AL; southwest GA, western FL Panhandle: A few strong to severe thunderstorms possible today. I-10, I-20, I-49, I-55, I-59, I-65 potentially impacted.

— Most of NY, southern VT, southern NH, northern RI, northern MA, northern NJ, central and eastern PA, central and western MD, WV/VA border: Winter Weather Advisories today. Snow, sleet and freezing rain in the northern portions and freezing rain in the southern and western portions of the region. Any untreated and secondary roads will be highly impacted.

— Central and north-central PA: Ice Storm Warning through early afternoon. Significant potential for ice buildup that may bring down trees and power lines. I-80, I-99 impacted.

— Northeast OH, northwest PA, far-western NY all along the Lake Erie coastline: Winter Storm Watches Monday morning through Tuesday morning. 6-10 inches of Lake Effect snow possible with gusts to 35 mph. I-79, I-90 / Ohio Turnpike / NY Thruway potentially impacted.

— Western NY downwind of Lake Ontario: Lake Effect Snow Warning this evening through Monday night. Up to 2 feet of snow and wind gusts to 35 mph. I-81, I-90 highly impacted.

— NY along and south of the Mohawk Valley; western and central PA; western MD; eastern WV; northeast OH: Expect brief but intense snow squalls Monday afternoon. These squall will drop visibility instantly to near zero while making road surfaces slick regardless of treatment. I-68, I-70, I-76 / PA Turnpike, I-79, I-80, I-81, I-88, I-90 / NY Thruway / OH Turnpike, I-99 all potentially impacted.
