  • Snow and dangerously cold wind chills are expected in the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest tonight.
  • Some freezing rain and sleet today for portions of Pennsylvania, New York and southern New England.
  • Near record warmth continues across the South.
  • Chance for some severe weather across portions of the Deep South on Wednesday.

Here’s the long-range travel & RV weather outlook (updated last evening)

— Northwest WA far northern Puget Sound: High Wind Warning through mid-morning. Gusts to 60 mph. I-5 impacted.

— Western and southern OR: Winter Weather Advisories this afternoon through Tuesday. Snow levels down to the coast. Several inches of snow expected. I-5, US-101 impacted.

— Northwest and far-northern CA: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories through this morning above 500 feet. Several additional inches snow expected. I-5, US-101 impacted.

— CA Sierra Nevada Range: Winter Storm Warnings through this evening above 1000 feet. Additional accumulations of 3-15 inches likely. I-80, US-50, US-88 impacted.

— Southern CA Mountains: Winter Storm through this evening. Snow accumulations up to 10 inches and wind gusts to 50 mph possible. I-5 (Grapevine), I-8, I-15 potentially impacted.

— Central CA San Luis Obispo Country: Wind Advisory today. Gusts 40-50 mph. US-101 impacted.

— Southern CA deserts, interior and mountains; southern NV: High Wind Warnings (mountains) and Advisories today and tonight. Gusts 50-60 mph. I-8, I-10, I-15, I-40, CA-58 impacted.

— Southern ID; far-western WY; northern and eastern NV; northeast, central, southwest UT; northwest, central and east-central AZ: Winter Storm Warnings (southwest ID, northeast UT) and Advisories today and tonight. Several inches of additional snow and winds gusting 35-45 mph. I-15, I-40, I-70, I-80, I-84 impacted.

— MT east of the Rockies: Wind chill warnings and advisories through Tuesday morning. Wind chill temperatures as low as -35 to -45 deg F.

— Portions of western CO: Winter Storm Warnings through Tuesday morning. Up to 6-12 additional inches of snow likely. I-70 impacted.

— North-central NM: Winter Storm Watches this evening through Wednesday above 7500 feet. 6-10 inches of snow possible.

— ND, northern SD, northern and central MN, northern WI, MI Upper Peninsula: Blizzard Warnings (eastern ND), Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories through this evening. A little more snow expected but main hazard is severe blowing and drifting snow. Snow drifts may exceed 5 feet in parts of ND. Some freezing precipitation possible over WI. I-29, I-35, I-94 highly impacted.

— Portions of south-central TX: Dense Fog Advisory through late this morning. I-10, I-35 impacted.

— Southern MI: Winter Weather Advisory through midmorning. Up to a couple of inches of snow, along with some freezing rain. I-69, I-75, I-94 impacted.

— Much of PA; southern and eastern NY and adjacent northern NJ; most of CT, western and central MA and adjacent northern RI: Winter Weather Advisories late this morning through tonight. An inch or two of snow but primary hazard will be freezing rain and slick roads if untreated. I-70/76/PA Turnpike, I-79, I-80, I-81, I-84, I-87, I-88, I-90/Mass Pike / NY Thruway, I-99 all impacted.

— Southwestern SC, GA, eastern and southern AL; northern and central FL: Dense Fog Advisories through late this morning. I-10, I-16, I-20, I-26, I-65, I-75, I-85, I-95 impacted.
