  • Many locations previously impacted by snow and/or ice earlier this week will experience below freezing temperatures into the weekend, prolonging hazardous winter weather conditions on many highways.
    • Check the state’s DOT/511 website for current conditions on major highways if you are traveling today.
  • Flooding potential today from a combination of heavy rains and snow-melt from Pennsylvania south to Alabama.
  • Strong winds continue today over portions of Southern California.
  • Much of Texas will experience overnight lows in the single digits and teens through Saturday night.

Here’s the long-range travel & RV weather outlook (updated Wednesday evening)

— Northwest WA Central and Northern Cascades from I-90 northwards: Winter Weather Advisories this afternoon and evening. 4-12 inches snow likely with heaviest amounts in the north. I-90 impacted.

— Southwest WA and northwest Portland: Dense Fog Advisories through midday today for the greater Portland and Vancouver areas. I-5, I-84 impacted.

— Southern CA Los Angeles County and Santa Ana Mountains, San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange San Diego Counties; the Inland Empire: High Wind Warnings, Watches (LA County) and Advisories through this afternoon. High winds may remain north of Los Angeles through Saturday. Gusts 50-65 mph, except gusts 60-70 mph in the Mountains. I-5, I-8, I-10, I-15 impacted.

— Much of central MT, east of the Rocky Mountain Front; north-central WY Cody Foothills: High Wind Warnings, Watches and Advisories through Saturday morning. Watch Friday. Gusts 60-75 mph. I-15, I-90 (Livingston area) impacted.

— Southeast WY: High Wind Warnings and Watches this afternoon through Saturday afternoon. Gusts 60-65 mph. I-25, I-80 impacted.

— Northeast ND, northern MN: Winter Weather Advisories Saturday. Accumulations generally 2-4 inches. Wind gusts to 30 mph. I-29, I-35 impacted.

— Northeast TX including the greater DFW area: Hard Freeze Warning tonight and Saturday morning. Low temperatures +5-10 deg F.

— Portions of south-central and southeast TX: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories through midday today. Precipitation has ended but cold weather, low wind chills and ice on the roads remain. I-10, I-35, I-45 impacted.

— Southeast IL; most of KY; northern TN; southern and southeast IN; most of OH and WV; western and central MD; most of PA; southern NY; CT; RI; Southern MA: Winter Weather Advisories continue through this morning (east) and afternoon (west). Perhaps an additional inch of snow, mixed with some sleet and freezing rain. I-24, I-40, I-64, I-65, I-70, I-71, I-74, I-76 / PA Turnpike, I-77, I-79, I-80 / OH Turnpike; I-84, I-81, I-87, I-88, I-90 / MA Turnpike, I-95 / NJ Turnpike, I-99 all impacted.

— Southern PA, western MD and much of WV: Flood advisories and watches through midday today for runoff from heavy rains plus snowmelt. Increasingly colder temperatures today will limit the amount of flooding. I-68, I-70, I-76 / PA Turnpike, I-77, I-79, I-81, I-83 potentially impacted.

— Extreme southwest NC; Northern, northwest and north-central GA; central and northeast AL: Flood Watches today. I-20, I-65, I-75, I-85 potentially impacted.

— Northern PA; upstate NY; VT; northern MA; NH; ME: Winter Storm Warnings continue today. Additional accumulations will range from an inch or two in the western region to 5-8 inches over ME. I-87, I-88, I-90 / NY Thruway, I-89, I-91, I-93, I-95 all impacted.
