  • Powerful storm producing 1 to 2 feet of snow across the Inter-mountain West moves onto the northern Plains and Great Lakes today. A band of heavy snow expected from Wyoming to Michigan.
  • Nocturnal tornado threat with some STRONG TORNADOES possible tonight through the lower- and mid-Mississippi Valley and lower Ohio / Tennessee Valley region. Highest risk at the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers.
  • Strong and high winds spread from New Mexico and Texas today into the Great Lakes and Midwest by Saturday morning, then across the Appalachians, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast on Saturday.
  • Another strong Pacific storm makes landfall tonight, bringing heavy rain and feet of mountain snow to Washington, Oregon, and Northern and Central California by Saturday.

— WA and OR Cascades and Olympic Mountains: Winter Storm Warnings and Watches this evening through Sunday morning. Snow levels start at 3000 feet and lower to 2000 feet by Saturday afternoon. Total accumulations 18-36 inches. Wind gusts to 50 mph. I-90 impacted.

— WA and OR Coasts: High Wind Warnings this evening through early Saturday morning. Gusts 50-60 mph. US-101 impacted.

— Western WA and northwest OR, including the Seattle and Portland metro areas: Wind Advisories this evening through Saturday morning. Gusts 40-50 mph. I-5, I-90 impacted.

— Northern CA higher terrain and Sierra Nevada Range: Winter Storm Watches Saturday evening through Tuesday evening. Snow accumulations may range from 2-4 feet above 4000 feet and up to 6 feet of snow in some locations. I-80 highly impacted.

— Northeast WA, northern and west-central ID, northwest MT: Winter Storm Watches and Advisories late tonight through early Sunday morning. 4-8 inches of snow in the valleys and 10-20 inches in the passes and mountains. Gusts to 50 mph. I-84, I-90 impacted.

— North-central, southwest MT: High Wind Warnings and Watches tonight and Saturday. Gusts. 50-65 mph. I-25, I-90 impacted.

— South-central MT: Wind Advisory this afternoon through Sunday evening. Wind Gusts 60-70 mph. I-90 highly impacted from Livingston to Big Timber.

— Northern UT: Winter Weather Advisory today Wasatch Mountains. 3-6 inches snow expected. I-80 impacted.

— Central and eastern WY, western and central CO: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories through this evening. 4-10 inches additional snow and wind gusts to 50 mph. I-25, I-70, I-80 impacted.

— Southeast WY, north-central CO: High Wind Watches this evening through Sunday afternoon. Gusts 60-70. I-25, I-80 impacted.

— North-central, west-central NM: Winter Weather Advisories through midday: 1-5 inches additional accumulation possible. Winds gusting to 40 mph. I-40 impacted.

— Central and eastern NM, northern and far-west TX, central and western OK: High Wind Warnings and Advisories today. Wind gusts 50-60 mph. I-10, I-20, I-25, I-40 impacted.

— Southern SD; northern NE; southern MN; northern IA; central and northern WI; MI Upper Peninsula: Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories Winter Storm warnings through early Saturday. Generally 6-9 inches additional accumulation. Winds gusting to 40 mph. I-29, I-35, I-90, I-94 impacted. I-80 is just south of the warned region.

— Northeast IL, southern and central MI Lower Peninsula, OH and PA Lake Erie shorelines: High Wind Watches and Advisories for Saturday. Winds gusting 50-60 mph. Major highways impacted include I-65, I-69, I-75, I-80, I-88, I-90/Ohio Turnpike, I-94.

— Southern and central IL, southwest IN, western KY, western TN, southeast MO, eastern AR, northwest MS: Severe thunderstorms likely this evening and overnight. Greatest tornado threat close to the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. The damaging wind and tornado threat will persist overnight while spreading eastward into the Tennessee Valley and northeastward across the Ohio Valley overnight. I-20, I-40, I-49, I-55, I-64, I-65 potentially impacted.

— Northeast AR, southeast MO, central IL, central and northern IN, adjacent MI and OH: Dense Fog Advisories through late this morning. Major highways impacted include I-40, I-44, I-55, I-57, I-65, I-69, I-70, I-74, I-80/Indiana Toll Road, I-90.

— Southeast LA, coastal MS: Dense Fog Advisories through mid-morning. I-10, I-12 impacted.

— Western NY down wind of Lakes Erie and Ontario: High Wind Warnings Saturday afternoon and night. Gusts 65-70 mph. I-90 / NY Thruway and I-81 impacted.

— Western MD, northeast WV: High Wind Watch Saturday afternoon and evening. Gusts to 60 mph. I-68, I-70, I-81 impacted.

— Extreme western TN, along the NC border: High Wind Warning this evening through Saturday afternoon. Gusts to 65 mph. I-40 impacted.

— Eastern PA, most of NJ, DE, MD Eastern Shore: Wind Advisories Saturday afternoon and night. Gusts to 45 mph. Major highways impacted include I-76/PA Turnpike, I-78, I-80, I-87, I-95/NJ Turnpike, Garden State Parkway.
